I've been lurking for the last month or two, but this is my first post. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ryan Christoff, my ebay ID is "vajra1".
Not to worry, I'm no threat to any of the set builders here as I primarily collect Cuban cards of Negro Leaguers. I read this forum because I find it interesting and informative in spite of the fact that the only set I am currently building is the 1923-24 BilliKen (Big "K" in tribute to the Kellogg's Krew) set which I doubt most have ever even heard of.
So if you have any spare Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Venezuelan, etc. cards that you'd like to sell or trade, please contact me.

It is always nice to add veteran collectors to the CU forum.
Thanks

I am a want-to-be student of the negro leagues as well as a sabermetric-geek. I'd love to learn more about your collection. Welcome!

Here's a link to my website if anyone wants to see the kind of cards I collect:

As my log-in name would suggest, I am always seeking any items relating to the great Martin Dihigo.

Have you read Bill James' Historical Abstract? He has a chapter on the negro leagues, as well as lists negro league players in his top 100 players of all time.

Yes, I believe the Negro Leaguers he included in the top 100 were:
4. Oscar Charleston
9. Josh Gibson
17. Satchel Paige
25. Turkey Stearnes
27. Pop Lloyd
43. Mule Suttles
52. Smoky Joe Williams
65. Buck Leonard
67. Cristobal Torriente
76. Cool Papa Bell
86. Willie Wells
95. Martin Dihigo
Out of that list, 4 of them have Cuban baseball cards: Charleston, Lloyd, Torriente, Dihigo.

Billiken Charleston is not for sale. Sorry.
Gemmint,
No one knows for sure how old he was (he may have been born in 1906) but Satchel did indeed pitch 3 scoreless innings for the Kansas City Athletics in 1965. He was at least 59 if not older.

Welcome to the boards. Cuban cards are very neat issues. There was a great article in Beckett Vintage Monthly recently about them.

Funny thing, about 20 mins ago I opened an email from a HOF registry member who had emailed about some of these players being added to the set.
Those are some good looking cards and thanks for sharing.
