Heritage Auction and Ebay Live is a Farce

I was just watching the live auction on ebay of the Heritage auction. I seems to me that they could have just left everything
like they used to and not bothered with expense of the live ebay auction. at least for me they had started a lot and ended a lot by the time I could have hit the bid button and they got my bid. I must admit I do live out in the middle of nowhere and use telephone lines for
my access. But still, gesh.image

Buy the best you can afford the first time around.

  • Yeah, eBay "Live" is horrid.

What's worse than starting and stopping before you can hit "bid" is when you hit bid and due to "random" (always?) delay instead of bidding $50 you bid $450.

I bought 3 items on there (I'm a glutton for punishment) a few months back and each time I bid I thought, "ok that's a nice coin for X" and the instant I hit "bid" my bid was AT LEAST $100 higher, generally $250 to $500 higher.

Just came back from the auction. Not many floor bidders there (about 20 to 25 folks). Lincoln cents are excessively hot. Early nickel is also un-believable hot.

The ebay auction, indeed, slowed down the auction. Some nice coins were bought by ebay live bidders. Since they all uses the same number, called ebay number (bidder number 92), I cannot tell how many folks are on-line bidding.
