Repost of Free Coin Collecting Software

The link to the original message is: http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=141516&highlight_key=y

If that doesn't work, you may download it at: http://download.coinweb.org/. The software is a comprehensive coin collector's "expert system". It currently recognizes over 54,000 U.S. coins (from 1616 to 2002) - most with fair market prices (after January 2003, price updates will be available bi-weekly at a nominal subscription and will automatically update all coins in your inventory. Within six months we expect to have over 250,000 U.S. coins in the Coin Master (which can be easily adapted to currency, world coins, ancients, etc), as we add additional error, varieties and attributes.

You may run the software "registered" or "un-registered". We recommend you register so you can get updates, new features, etc. automatically. We will not divulge your information without your written permission. If you are running some anti-virus software (Norton, for example), you will get a warning when you open our installer because the software is checking to see if your emailer is open. Other anti-virus software does not warn as simply checking to see if your emailer is on-line is not attempting to upload a virus or spammer. If the warning gives you the willies, there is very good anti virus, anti everything software you can buy and install (like Zone Alarm, Trend Micro and others).

The software for download is approximately 82+ mb. If your connection is slow, email your mailing address to janrschwenk@attbi.com and I will mail you a cd (Windows 98 +) that even has a preliminary manual on disc at my expense. If you are worried that I am trying to get your email address for nefarious purposes, please contact your local post office and ask them how you can receive mail at the post office under "hold for pickup" (or what ever they call it now).

I will answer any question you may have, either here in this forum, or via direct email. My Yahoo! id is janschwenk and you will note that I have 3 "bad" hickies from people I would hesitate to call idiots - I would not rate them that high. My Ebay id is Jaresch. My name is Jan R. Schwenk and you may notice that both Yahoo and Ebay id's are derived from my name.

All this blather is in response to some rather unkind remarks I've received, deserved or not. One last suggestion (not original but still good): Do not criticize someone until you have walked a mile in his shoes (mocassins). Then, if he doesn't like it, you're a mile away and you have his shoes.
U.S. coin collector since 1943. Have tried desperatly to keep every coin that has come to hand, but unfortunately, some got away.

  • Hi Jan,
Your software works just fine since I upgraded to AccessXP. Now, if there is a way to import data from my current Access coin inventory data base please let me know.
    Thanks

  • Jim,

    Thanks!

On the import from Access, the problem will be in "relating" your coins to our coin-master. We are trying to come up with a tool that will make that easier than it is right now - if you can email me a sample of your data in an "mdb" format, I will get back to you.

    Rgds
