8K - 10K a year with about 2/3 recycling back via sales to buy more coins.

  • 2k is my limit, I am new but in 1/3 of a year I spent 1/3 of my budget so i think it is right for me. U guys probably pay more than 2k per coin image

Interesting post, my wife and I were just "discussing" this last night. My opinion, not enough, her's --- well you can just guess.

So far I would say I spent $2-3,000 on coins and related expensives ie, postage, grading fees, publications, supplies.

And so far I've managed to complete proof Ikes, SBAs & Sacs and now I've started a toned Peace set, which will probably cost more then the other 3 combined. I also managed to put together a Dansco Ike & SBA set as well as finish a Lincoln 09-81 Whitman Album and a LOC Toned Dime set 46-64

Bargains are there to be found if you look hard enough.

Spend in what sense? Does that include total outlay for coins and everything else? Slabbing? Coins intended for resale? Just personal collection? Trades?

Last year- $35,532 oh and umm 60 cents. No kidding, I tracked it that close.

The most stomach turning time was when I added up all my receipts and one month it totaled over $10,000. That was for slabbing fees only. image Thankfully, I've recovered from that and now slab in moderation. And to be fair, practically all those coins sent in for slabbing were for resale.
  • Unfortunately, for my check book, I spend more than half of what I make on coins, the rest on golf and a few sports cards now and then.

I try to keep in the $6,000 area, which is difficult at times......some years I go 40%-50% higher, especially if a difficult coin becomes available.

I don't want to know. Ignorance is bliss in this case.image
  • i would say roughly 20-25 k in the last 6 months. my wife does not care either! woooohoooo she is not one of those women who say where is all OUR money. I did give her a tummy tuck and liposuction (she had 2 kids) which set me back 9,000, but she is all happy now. Owning my own business at 32 sure is nice.

I spend more than I should, and I will need to dramatically cut down on the spending.

Roughly $8K, all raw, no slabbing fees.

First year in three that I didn't sell a single coin. Didn't want to, and didn't have time to mess with it anyway. the upcoming online store will change all that dramatically.

This is a trick question, right? Who in their right mind will put on an internet chat room how much they spend, unless you have a really cute answer, right? Eleven posts gets "net $90K"? Must be a joke thread. image
  • gmarguligmarguli Posts: 2,225 ✭✭
RegistryCoin, come on, this thread goes along with the "what zip code do you live in" and "where do you store you coins" threads. I'm sure there is no harm. Play along. image
  • RegistryCoinRegistryCoin Posts: 5,117 ✭✭✭✭
ok, sorry. I spend all the money on coins, that doesn't go to anger management classes. image

No offense to Eleven Posts, or anyone else, but I just don't get it. Eleven Posts gets "play along" and our own respected Pat, for just one example, gets lambasted from all sides for his cuteness, one which, if you look back, I encouraged all of you to "play along" with. Interesting...
