When will I learn on Crossovers!!!!!!

Okay, my latest crossovers....0 for 4. When will I ever learn?

4 Trade Dollars.....expected 3 to cross (one was a stretch). Thats it. I think my lesson has finally sunk in.

Either I complain here or my poor wife has to listen. The difference is that I can't see you all shaking your heads and giving me the "I don't understand why he continues to stick pins in his eyes when he knows that it hurts" look.

A common thread these days...no replies necessary. This is part of my 2 step recovery process. Part 1: Grief, Part 2: A promise never to do it again. I swear that I'll be good this time. Last time I lasted 6 months without a crossover submission.

Did you guys read my thread in the Coin Forum titled ``The crossover bugbear''? You may find it more helpful than sticking pins in your eye!

Of you sticking pins in your eyes? image

Were they all NGC or a mixture of slabs?
  • Hi Keoj!

Welcome to the "I can't stop submitting to PCGS no matter how much it hurts" Recovery Meeting.

I'm sure you see some familiar faces around the room.

Guess I was luckier. I batted .600 3 for 5. One MS68 Ike (Anacs), one MS67 Nickel (Anacs), and one 1951 PF65 Cam half (NGC).

Had a few Ikes in for regrade and batted 0 for 7. I'm pretty good with these, so I was totally miffed. Will post Pics for you guys once the coins arrive back.

I should have stated cross at "any grade". I could careless what the grade is. PCGS notes the type on the holder. (Example: "Large Date" & "Small Date" & "Small Stars" & "No Stems"...ect (Red Book Titles) NGC puts "N-2" & "S239" on the holder.... which is good.... but I like the "common names" first, then if the coin has no "common name" then numbers are great. (PCGS doesn't note the type designation numbers!image )

Coins with common names go to PCGS!
Coins without common names to go NGC for the Type Number Designation.

A couple of tidbits on the coins themselves:

    - 1875 Trade Dollar (Type I/I) - NGC-62
    - 1873-CC Trade Dollar - NCG-62
    - 1875-CC Trade Dollar (Type I/II) - NGC-60
    - 1876-CC DDR Trade Dollar - ANACS-61

The last one was a stretch. The reverse is perfect for the grade, the obverse is a little motley. I'm sure this one was designated as AT or Cleaned (even though its neither).

The reason that I attempted to cross is to list them on my Registry set (designated Varieties) since PCGS does not recognize varieties for Trade Dollars as either optional or a varietal set. As an example, I have a PCGS 76-CC DDR that has a PCGS number yet there is no Registry set to put the coin into.

Since your coins didn't cross, are they now up for sale? I am interested in the '75 I/I and '75-CC I/II.

Remember to apply a discount for the holder! image
