What should be done?

What do you think should be done when someone is discovered, who dishonestly uses a cert number?

Personally, I think they should be suspended or banned from the Registry. If not permanently banned, then suspended for a minimum amount of time, say 6 months. Sets they have listed would still be valid, but would be removed from the Registry for the time they are suspended. Sets would be reinstated without change, when the suspension is up.

If it happens a second time, they would be permanently banned from participating in the Registry, ever again. PERIOD!

    Big deal I say. These people have no respect for themselves, and thats all that gets hurt. Give them up on the boards if you like, they will probably leave on their own for a while after that anyway. But seriously, who have they hurt enough to get banned???

    And just to set the record straight, I own ALL of the coins in my sets! image After all, I would hope if someone was going to steal numbers, they would get better numbers than I have listed!

    A thief is a thief, a cheat is a cheat, and a liar is a liar. There is no other way to cut it. Rationalizing does nothing but send a message that it is okay to cheat, steal, or lie about the coins.
    If the premise is that the Registry is for legitimate collections and collectors, who want to share their treasures with others, then there would be no room on it for the liars, cheats and thieves.

    No question. Banned from the registry. I think we have to be careful, though, since plenty of database glitches occur with cert numbers.

    Pat Boone would be bad. But if you really want to punish them, lock them in a room with John Denver music playing. And they don't get an ice pick to poke out their ear drumbs. Makes me shudder to think about it.

    Though some on this forum may disagree, Pat Boone was the ultimate square, all one has to do is listen to his version of any of the Fats Domino covers or even Little Richard, then listen to the real deal. This square will never be on Lucy's website, Never!

    Pat Boone may be square, but John Denver makes me ill.

    And he was even almost as bad as an actor. I love planes.

    I've had it with the "I'm not responsible for my actions crowd". If you can't play by the rules of decency and fairness, I don't want you on the same playground with me.

    I think we have struck a nerve here and Russ has gone and said the BM word.

    My only concern here would be like someone else said about a database problem. But yes, if someone is purposely using cert numbers that aren't theirs ban them. I don't even see the need to give them a second chance.
