Coin tubes for rolls still in wrapper?

Does anyone know if coin tubes are made/sold that enable you to put a roll in a tube WITH the roll paper still intact? I have quite a few original rolls I would like to tube still in paper. Original rolls are worth so much more in the original paper.

  • Would a tube one size larger than the roll allow too much movement?
  • It will for some coin types but I was really trying to avoid trapped air, well at least as much as possible. I guess I could wrap them in foil.

I put my OBW rolls in ziplock baggies with silica gel. I've heard of people using tubes one size larger, doesn't seem to work for my cent rolls tho. And the polypropylene caps most plastic tubes use allows air to pass through anyways.

    How about this joint?

  • I use nickel tubes for bank wrapped Lincoln cent rolls and Colella square quarter tubes for bank wrapped quarters. I don't have any bank wrapped dimes or nickels, but they will probably fit into cent and quarter tubes. Drug stores have various sized pill bottles that you could probably buy but they are all that dark brown color.

I bought a bunch of H.E. Harris 5 cent tubes after hearing about that... can't seem to get the lids on tho image

  • I put my bank rolls in standard square tube. Sometimes you will have to tap the ends on the table to compress them a little, but they work just fine..

first thing I look for when buying OBW rolls is tightly wrapped ends. believe it or not, a lot of people cherrypick and rewrap supposedly "original" rolls. but thanks for info... I'll see if the square tubes are any better.
  • rolls inside the square "colella" tubes work great.
