How accurate are the prices quoted on the PCGS website?

Just wondering if there is any relationship between the prices quoted and reality, especially for modern issues.

Not very. I use use eBay's completed items or the heritage-teletrade auction archives.

  • Ever since they started allowing KINCOIN to have an input on the prices, they've been way out of whack

About as accurate as playing darts blindfolded. The modern coins are out of whack in both directions of reality.
  • It depends on what you consider modern. If you consider modern post 1964 clad then yes it is way out of wack. BUT the pre 1964 issues have to be handled on a case by case basis. If you are one of those gray sheet thumpers good luck getting a quality coin. Not to say you can't on occasion but it can be hard. PCGS price guide is a retail price list and I have paid at or a little over at times because that is what it takes to get quality. In the end it all boils down to what the coin is worth to you.
