Sacagawea Dollar excuses... just added text?

Before I get into my banter I would like to say up front, I support everyones opinion on this subject. These are just MY personal opinions on the subject matter.
I just read another editorial on the subject of circulating the Sac dollar, and it has finally set me off.
In this editoral the writer goes on to say how the Cent is worthless, and the Sac dollars are "just too heavy" and bulky, and cause "dirt rings" in your pants.
Let me ask the forum members,
Are the Sac dollars any heavier than the Quarter?
Are you scared silly that a coin will put dirt stains in your pants?
Would you rather see coins go the way of the Do Do Bird, and only have electronic cards that are programmed with our net worth? What happens when the computers go down?
I for one do not want a cashless society, and once the coinage is gone that would be the most obvious step. I guess I just had to vent a bit. I'm sure there are many others that get tired of all the excuses for not having a dollar coin. My God, the Canadians must be shaking in their shoes as we speak!

Even if the mint actually produced one that didn't look like crap, a dollar coin will never succeed as long as we have dollar bills. Produce a nice coin, get rid of paper ones, and it might have a chance. It would also save the taxpayers a nice chunk of change along the way.

The dollar coin is perfect for vending machines. Too bad none of them in TN will accept one. But I've been spending a few recently, and a few halves. Gave one guy 10 sacs and a JFK at the grocery store. I don't think he wished me a good day as I left....

The best thing abou the Sac is it's going to be a very easy set to complete image hehe, JK. I've kept all the ones I slabbed recently, sort of like the color actually, if they haven't circulated. Sent one to NTC with wild pinkish/red toning on reverse, came back without the toning (still not sure if they switched it or dipped it.) Anyways, I think it would be neat to see silver get back into circulation, even if it's only a 50% coin, maybe 5 dollars face. Would be very popular, I think image My mother was hording Sacs until she found out the "Golden dollar" didn't really have any gold in it image

BTW, those intercept shield albums I bought off you are working great, thus far, MJ image

  • I hand out Sacs as change all the time and spend them when shopping. The main complaint that I get is that "the wife just wants to keep them" rather than spend them. Much less resitance than SBAs (people still confuse them with quarters).
