gem proof deep cameo barber quarter this later date not usually/ever seen DCAM

1910 pcgs pf65 DCAM barber quarter the photo barely does justice to the coin

solid deep cameo reverse
monster deep cameoplus plus obverse
usually the reverse has the stronger cameo! not so with this gem

this coin used to be in a proof 66 holder. i see that someone was not happy at
a certain point in the past..........lol

for me this coin is a super nice 65+
with great eye appeal

barber quarters in proof deep cameo are rare after 1900!!

a monster strike and looks to me to be a fresh new die with the fields meeting the designs at a 90 degree angle with this coin being one of the first strikes off this new die

  • Eh, I've seen better.

    OK, not really. image
  • Nice contrast on this coin.

Are those striations in front of the face? There is also a cluster of (looks like glitter?) around the date and around the stars on the rev. I'm interested in knowing what these are/what caused them/how do they affect grade, etc.

    Thanks for sharing. image

the striations in front of the face are marks on the holder! they are like thick and look like skuff marks which they are, again on the holder! also the glitter on the obverse and reverse are light invisable toning dots that are not seen in person on this coin and are shown off moreso because of the super deep mirrors of the coin and the magic of scans that exaggriate this! but good to see on the coin!! a rare coin in that it looks better in person and a real unretouched photo..........lol usually most scans are better than the coin in person.........lol

for me this doesnot effect the grade but there are two ever so slight hairlines invisible on the scan and invisable on the coin when sight seen unless you look closely on the obverse of the coin while tilting it at the right angle in any light or head on with a pinpoint haligon lamp like they use in the grading room at the mojor services! in the field at 9 pm and 3 pm on the obverse
this effects the grade there are no hairlines on the reverse!

wow goyan! those were great observations! also, this coin looks much better sight seen!

  • Michael- thanks for the info.

I really hate to see those types of marks on the holder. It really takes away from the coin, especially when you're using a scan or picture of the coin, and the marks show up like that.

    Thanks image
