Ebay buyer or seller responsibility?

Quite frequently, as a winning bidder, I have to contact the seller to get information. Lately it seems that 9 times out of 10, the seller never contacts me. All I get are the notices from ebay. Sometimes, even after requesting info, it takes a long time for a response. I realize that some dealers sell a lot of stuff, but in my opininion, it should always be the sellers responsibility to contact the winning bidders. I always contact the buyer when an auction I listed has ended. Any thoughts on this.

Well, I leave my mailing address in the auction, I think I have it on my ME page, I take Paypal, and paypal is more than willing to post links on my completed auctions to help them get a small chunk, I have mailing address on ebay check-out as well.
After a couple weeks I will contact a buyer, to check on their payment method, if I still have the item in my hand.
If I am high bidder, I contact the seller right away. Really ticks me off when time goes by and the jerks don't answer. Couple of times I was just gonna let the item go and Neg the seller.
Ebay rules says the buyer and seller are to contact each other within three days.
sinin 1, do you Neg the buyer if he doesn't pay for an auction and turn him in as a nonpaying bidder? Is it his responsibility to hunt you down? Geesh!!

If I'm a buyer, and the item has a Paypal "pay now" button. I just pay for the item through paypal, and wait for it to be delivered. Otherwise, I wait for the seller to contact me.

I completely agree. But, if the seller has all the info necessary in the listing for me to pay, I just do that right away. I do find it somewhat discourteous that many sellers now seem to think that with all the automation software they no longer need to have any contact with their customer, though.
One of the reasons I like doing business with David Sager (besides the fact that he knows how picky I am, so there's no surprises) is that even though he does volume, and uses the software technology, he always personally acknowledges the sale in some way.

buyer and seller, exactly. they both have the responsibility to make sure contact is made.
whoever wants the deal done the most, i would guess, is the one who's going to make the first contact.

90% of the buyers follow these instructions and I know within a day or two if they have paid via EFT or are mailing payment.
For the 10% that don't follow the instructions I send eBay's invoice the 2nd day after close of auction.
So far, no problems (111 transactions and counting).

Notifications that don't have addresses, require me to go through checkout, to go back to the auction to find out how much to add for shipping etc get shunted aside for processing later and I may not get back to them for some time because they quickly get buried. (I don't use paypal either so I need a mailing address.)
Notices with the proper info get paid immediately, notices without may not get cleaned up for two to three weeks unless they have a clear easy to find email link to the seller. If they have the link I'll send them a email asking for the info. many times the answer I get back refers me back to the auction and/or checkout which puts it back at the bottom of the pile again. (I only get a chance to actively work ebay about every two or three weeks. I do my searches and keep a list of auctions I want to pop in and snipe, then I only go back to Ebay at those times, make my snipe and leave again.)
