Has anyone ever gotten nervous and forgotten what they know when buying a coin?

I bought my first relatively expensive (for me) unslabbed coin at the Baystate coin show last Saturday. It was an 1867 shield nickel w' rays in AU. I was so excited I forgot nearly everything I know about this series and just bought it. Afterwards I noticed that the stars were very weekly struck even for this date. I guess I can chalk this up to experience. Has anyone else ever choked when buying a coin?

It was really late, I was bored, and I wanted the thrill of buying something... that is a BAD combination!!!
I found a cheap coin and jumped the gun... after I bid (with a few hours to go) I decided to read the auction... here is why I got scared:
1- decided the coin was worth less than my bid- very well worn and overly dark
2- the seller was in England... shipping to the states would be about $7 or so for ONE tiny coin
3- seller doesn't take paypal... I'd have to cough up $15 extra to send a check or I'd buy an international money order at unknown cost...
Luckily, I was outbid in my sleep
If I pass on a good coin I wonder if you should have bought it?
If I buy it I wonder if you should have or if I paid too much?
When I get home and notice a problem I didn't see I wonder what I was doing?
Then sometimes when I sell coins I wonder:
Did I sell it too cheap?
Would the coin have upgraded?
Will I ever get another one?
I'm sure you did fine. Those shield nickels with rays just come that way.
That was funny--I needed the laugh.
