So I buy this card....

... from a bulk submitter on ebay. I go to enter it into my registry and it says its not matching any card in that year. I find it odd because its a 1975 Mini. I do a grade verification and low and behold it's mis-labeled as a 1974 Mini. I check on the flip and it says 1974. Doh! I'm about to send in a submission and I want to get the flip corrected. As I understand, the correct protocol would to be have 2 separate submission forms in 1 box, right? Has this ever happened to anyone else? I'm sure this card was submitted along with a bunch of other minis...

  • yes same thing happened to me on a 55 all american fb card . you are correct use a 2nd invoice to send in with cards. i send a email ahead and got a responce same day that said they would even cover return ship cost,i sent a copy along with card you might want to do that also ,not sure if needed but better safe then sorry gl
  • I call PSA at 1-800-325-1121, tell them that I'm sending them an invoice later that day, tell them that I have a mis-labelled card, and can they take care of it? I then do what they tell me to do. The goal is to avoid having to pay shipping on the single card, so I try to lean them in that direction.

  • I did exactly that on my last order - included the email and all.
Got the card back exactly the same, they didn't do anything to it. I will try one more time on my next order.

I wonder what that person did to my card, if anything at all . . .

I list the mechanicals on a separate invoice and send it in with my next order. I don't add shipping costs and allow them to decide whether to ship the reholdered cards back with my full submission or send them separately. They usually send them back right away in a separate invoice. That's gotta be expensive for them. I would think there would be an intense focus on quality control at the labeling station to avoid these types of obvious errors.
  • I know everyone expects perfection, but think of the quantity of cards PSA grades. There has to be an error every now and then. I have well over 2000 PSA graded cards and know of one error on the label out of all of them (my 1970 Topps PSA 8 #191 Vicente Romo - first name listed on the label as "Vincente"). That's approximately a 0.05% error rate on my cards which I would have to say is pretty good. How often do you see typpographical errors and words spelled rong every day?

    Justin...

Every once in a while, I'll get a holder back with incorrect information on the flip.....

Most of the time (maybe once per 1000 submissions) it's a typo...

When you collect Kellogg's cards, the flip sometimes is missing the apostrephe in the word (I hope I spelled that right?)...So sure enough, when I try to enter the cert number on the registry..Ba'da'Bing..It comes back as an invalid number. I email Gayle on the problem, and she fixes it. I've sent maybe a half of dozen in to be corrected, and a few days later they come back to me correct.

PSA has never charged me a return fee of any kind...

I think PSA would really want to have the correct information out in the hobby, and it shows their professionalism by 1) Admitting there is a mistake. 2) Correcting the mistake quickly. 3) And not incumbering their customers with additional fees or dialog.

    Thanks for the post.
