$500.00????? You know i got a couple that look much better then that one. I really should send them into and have them done. I can not believe the prices these things are getting,
and i used to think it was the ugliest coin made.

Ok Ike, but not a Peacock and is priced too high.

  • Priced too high. What about the fact that he says it is a key date. The silver Ike of 73 in pr69dc actually has one of the highest pop numbers. Maybe it does have a low pop in pr67dc. I would not even have bothered to have it slabbed due to the fact that this coin is easily to find in a higher grade. The Clad of 73 is the key date. It is probably the third rarest. Plus the fact that toning is not all that attractive IMHO and I would not pay a premium for it.
  • He is probably refering to raw Ikes as the 1973 silver ikes is indeed the key to the series, in raw condition bids at aroung $20, while everything else is bid around $5 or $6. As far as slabbed proof ikes is concerned I think the 1976s type 1 is the true key, with the 73 and 74 clad issues pretty close for second key.

As far as toning the reverse looks nice, where you can see the color on the white eagle...and if this is any indication of how the rest of the coin looks, colors don't show to nicely on the mirrored part of a proof coin, it is probably a very pretty coin...I have seen some amazing Silver Eagles sell for around as much (braddick paid around $480 for one)...not sure how these compare in toned condition though.

Interesting, he paid $150 and is know trying to triple his investment. I say it's worth the $150 he paid, but what do I know I'm about to mortgage my house for a toned Peace dollar.

Coin doesn't do too much for me. I like more vibrant colors. Maybe in person it's nicer but as it sits now I wouldn't pay $75 for it.
  • I'm not fast enough -- everybody already said what I think, and I agree!

Tough to tell from the photo, but from the close-up of the reverse if that rainbow halo is complete it might be very pretty. Nice frosty cameo to go with it too.

Neat coin... not sure it's $500 neat, but neat. image
