PayPal question to the masses...

I just saw an auction that stated, "I do take PayPal if you have a balance." Can you set your account up so it only accepts payments from accounts that have balances? If I win the auction, is it going to reject my payment? What's up with that?

    Clark,

My guess is that what he meant to say is no credit cards. So, my hunch is that as long as it's funded from your checking account, rather than a credit card, it doesn't matter.

With personal accounts, there's no way to set it up in advance to reject credit card payments; it has to be manually denied. That feature might be available with premiere accounts, I don't know.

A basic Paypal account does not allow you to accept credit cards, only payments from an existing Paypal balance or an account funded automatically from a bank account. The plus side of this type of account is that you don't pay the 3% juice to Paypal for every penny you receive. The down side is that you can't take credit cards.

    Cheers,

    Bob
  • Thanks, guys.

Sounds like I'll be ok... I have the fundage sucked directly out of a checking account.

    Edit:
Russ, I was glad to hear you made it out of the dead wagon alive... man, that must've smelled bad!

  • I am not sure but maybe he means you must have funds in your paypal so it clears right away . I know if i don't have funds in there and there send an e-check out of my checking account it takes about 3 days before it is cleared.
  • rikker,

I think my payments clear right away... I've had coins shipped the next day after I paypalled.
