What do you think of this Bust Half?

I reserved this 1810 half this morning. I'm working on a type set of Bust halves and thought it would go well with
my 1807 and 38.

    Python,

You should be aware that the 1810 that you reserved is arguably overgraded. It has a weak strike, to be sure, but it could also easily be an EF45 coin. And, that's a big drop in price.

Otherwise, I'd say that the coin has nice eye appeal (i.e., color). I like it better than your Draped Bust, which doesn't look original to me at all.

The RE coin is ok. I generally dislike their appearance, so I have a hard time getting enthusiastic about them.

  • EVP, Thanks for your honest opinion on the 1810, I bought from a dealer with a good return policy so I'll see when
    I receive.

I happen to like your 1838 very much, it looks like there is a nice skin on the coin with good luster still present underneath. The 1810 also has good color, but, as EVP mentioned, it has a weak strike that isn't so unusual. It will be interesting to see what the eagle looks like on that coin. The 1807 does look like it has been washed at some point, however, it could just be due to the imaging technique on the coin. Overall, my favorite would be the 1838.
