Question on Oregon Trail Commem

Hi all.

I went to see a gentleman yesterday who said he had a "box of coins". Well he certainly did, and a bunch of unusual stuff too. One coin that i was surprised to see was the oregon trail commem that is linked below. I have always liked this coin, but haven't run into any that are raw. I guess I am just trolling image for opinions on what the group thinks. I am going to send it into either PCGS or NGC...I think.

He also had quite a selection of Mint Products, Unopened Bankwrapped rolls ( 64 kennedys, 76 Ikes, 76 Kennedys) . I may put some of those on the BST board later.

Thanks,

Greg

Nice,, the only thing I can say is it does seem to have a strong strike. Toning is kind of nice.. Hard to tell true color from a scan. Obv. at about 3 oclock may be an issue. Is it as dramatic as it looks?
Need something designed and 3D printed?
  • Some of the main areas to check for wear on these is the Indian's head dress and foot, plus the spokes on the wagon's wheels.
  • Thanks for the replies! The obverse at 3:00 is a shadow from my attempt at scanning, this coin is kind of like a deep dish pizza image I looked at the areas of wear mentioned and only see one little hit on the headdress, everything else looks fine. the colors, although not extensive area wise, are very pretty on the coin.
