Seated Half varieties

EVillageProwlerEVillageProwler Posts: 5,856 ✭✭✭✭✭
Not too long ago -- last year? -- Heritage auctioned a major collection of Seated Halves that was so replete with obscure varieties that they contracted Dick Osburn to catalog that portion of the sale.

I was very impressed with the cataloging, and wished I had pursued many of the better varieties. The problem, of course, is that I have no idea how to price that stuff.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I guess now that catalog is out, I can always use the PRL as a price guide!

Comments, suggestions?

  • I kinda figured you would have, seeing your into the halves. Whenever I mention his name to most people, they have no idea. IMO, he is one of the friendliest dealers out there (and hes only a part times, atleast for a lil longer) I dunno, i just cant say enough about Mr Osburn.

Dick is a part-time dealer (has been part-time for at least 15 years), and specializes in Seated coinage (particularly halves). At the big shows, he always hangs out with Randy Wiley (of the Wiley-Bugert book on Seated Half varieties) and Jim O'Donnell.

He has no web site; he uses an email-based distribution for his inventory. He has just about all sorts of stuff in his inventory, not just Seated material.

    Sean,
Why not give the address for Dick Osburn for those that are interested in his catalogue?

Trime-I got his e-mail adress over PM from EVP.
I think KK thought it's not proper to reveal his adress on public without permission.
