Will someone who knows computers take a look at this auction and give me their opinion?

Good deal?

I'm looking for a laptop I can write word documents on, w/ a DVD drive and at least a 56K modem, thought I'd give ebay a try. Any feedback on this one is appreciated.

  • THats a nice machine. I had one at work and it gave me no probs. Good buy.

ThinkPads are the best!! (I guess im biased since I work for them...lol)
  • The guys feedback is OK (525 positives, 20 negatives, and the most recent negative looks to be not sellers fault) but I don't know my computers that well, much less how to read the doublespeak some sellers use. Balj, since you know this kind of stuff, what kind of value would you put on this machine?

  • depends on if you have an OS already that you can load into it. Also you don't really know the exact condition other than it works. The most you would be out is a couple hundred and if you don't like it, you always could throw it back on ebay.
  • Exactly superstar. Ryan, you wanna know what it comes with from a Software perspectitive. The model is good, as long as it works. You should ask about a money back quarantee or something like that.

  • I'm on page 10 of his feedback, so far no "Item didn't work" or "Item not as described" negatives, a few neutrals for slow communication but nothing to totally scare me off.

Superstar, my freind's got tons of bootlegged OP copies, so that wouldn't be a major issue.
  • Hey guys, take a look at the picture: would the items marked "Hard Drive" and "PC card" stick out like that at all times, or is that just for the picture's sake?

I'm sure my complete ignorance on computers is showing right now image
  • $350 isn't much for a laptop, actually it's dirt cheap, but what if the screen is all scratched up or something worse? BIN for $350 is what makes me skeptical, but if you can afford to spend the money, go for it.
  • I am guessing it is only out to show you where the hard drive is located and the picture was from IBM or the company that sold it.
  • I'm not going to do the buy it now, but if you guys think it's worth a shot, I'm going to watch it and try to get it near the end with a $200-225 bid. If I lose it, oh well.
  • Have you guys seen these auctions? I'm sure it's some sort of scam, but do you guys know more about what the deal is?
  • Dang....someone with zero feedback just did buy it now on it, but the guy has another one that I'm bidding on....we'll see image
  • i have a thinkpad and theyre awesome. Of course it doesnt have a zip drive but it has amazing security features so no one can use it buy you!
Rest in peace Josh, we'll all miss you
  • Thanks to everyone for the input image
