I think that coin has more historical value than numismatic value.Way more than the coins from the shipwreck gold.It is about time it received it'sfame.IMHO!!!!!

I would personally place a far higher value on Lt. Dixon's double eagle than I would on the King Farouk 1933 example that just sold for that obscene price. And Dixon's coin was engraved, not to mention hit with a .58 caliber bullet!

When we visited Charleston a short while ago, the Hunley exhibit was only open on weekends, and we were there midweek. We'll have to return and do that. Saw Fort Sumter and the Yorktown. That was pretty cool. I also got to go detecting there, and found Spanish silver from the 1700's. It was a nice vacation.

I think the Dixon $20 gold piece would almost be worth a second trip by itself.
