ebay fraud

Well I guess I've been defrauded for the first time on ebay. The seller's id is detabb2 - avoid him! It looks like 10 others didn't get the cards they were promised this past month. I lost $317 - ouch.image

item purchased

What are my best steps to stop him from ripping off others? Any ideas?

Thanks,

    Wayne,

Just say the word, you and I can meet in Bowling Green then drive down to Nashville and visit this cat. Seriously, call the police department and let them know what happened. There have been some threads on CU about similar cases where the local police took and interest, and even paid the dead-beat a visit.

    Hope all else is well...

Wayne, I wish you luck with getting some sort of retribution with this filth.
  • Sorry man. But, I have some suggestions. First I hope you paid with PayPal or a credit card. Since you didn't look at your check. He probably went to his local bank, which will be identified, to cash it. Additionally, the check will have his signature on the back. If its a local bank, and he deposited the check (fat chance but take a look), you will also have his account number on the back of the check, as well as his name and signature. You MUST file a fraud complaint with E-Bay and pursue their fraud remedies (which amount to spit - but if you don't do it the Police really will not talk to you). Get the guy's E-Bay contact material and call directly to find out that his telephone number is disconnected. You should now be aremed with his telephone number - disconnected - address, bank name (hopefully account number) signature on the check. Contact the other E-Bay victims and make them do the same. Now its time to talk to local police. You ALL contact the Local Police in his Home town and each file a police complaint for fraud and theft. If you can combine to get over $5,000 worth of theft, you've got a felony and they MIGHT do something. IF the Tennessee state police are as good as the Indiana Fraud Unit (that's who nailed the scum-bag that ripped me off), they will do it as a state thing instead of a local thing. The state guys used the wire fraud aspect in getting my guy. But, the info off the back of my check was useful in getting his real home address and telephone number. I hope some of this helps. If you need more detail on how to do some of it let me know. Been there it SUCKS.

    Wayne,

File a complaint with the Postal Inspectors through your local post office. They will eventually track down this loser and bring him to justice.
  • detabb2...........Thanks Wayne.........I think a lot of us eBay buyers and sellers just put this winner on our $@!# list.

Sorry for the loss......Hope it works out.

  • toppsgun,

If you can rip to shreads po box 1178 in Gallatin for me I would appreciate it.image I wish that I had an address because I'm only 2 hours from Gallatin and I would make the trip if I knew where he lived. Take the family to Opry Mills to shop and go take out my anger on some rip off guy. Sounds like a good day. I appreciate the offer toppsgun.
