<< <i>1950-D nickel? >>
Yep. I was a bit surprised by that. It's about $14.50 in MS65 and is $4.90 in GD04 per the latest Coin World Trends.
TDN- you're quick!
Are there any others coins like that one?

I assume the coin must exist in G-4? That probably rules out the 1913 Liberty nickel and the 1804 dollar. Isn't there a 1894-S dime in Good?
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Great icon, BTW
I got one from a coke machine in 1964 in the barracks I lived in at Fort Gordon, Georgia. It's the only one I ever found in change in almost 45 years of collecting. Much better than good though.
I've never seen one in only good 4 myself.

I know it is worth that much, because if it is actually only in PO1 condition, I can sell it to Braddick at a profit!
<< <i>Have you ever seen a 1950-D nickle in that low a grade? I got one from a coke machine in 1964 in the barracks I lived in at Fort Gordon, Georgia. I've got one into PCGS right now (submission: 3039574) that has what I hope is a true 1950-D in GD04 (although, knowing my luck, it'll go VG08).
I found it on a bid board. Like you, I've never seen one, problem free, in such a low grade due to their popularity right from the year they were minted.

I guess Proofs can play. Why not?

Sure is...the dime Hallie Daggett spent on an ice cream cone in 1894 is in good condition...
Daddy Daggett gave her three of them according to the story...of twenty-four made only half that number accounted for...
one plausible theory is that some of the 1894-S dimes were lost in the great San Francisco earthquake of 1906...

Hoarded issue, weak strike, less than desirable planchet, badly toned...
Anyone have a real high end MS66FS for sale?

<< <i>1903-O $1 is worth $120 in good and $360 in MS-65 >>
Good one! -Used to be worth 5X's that in GEM grades 30 years ago!
Neat coin. Who on this board bought one of these in VG08 or so? I remember thinking how odd it would be to find one of these in a pleasing, gray, problem free, lower grade.

Another coin is a 1972 doubled die cent. Worth $125 in vg and $375 in MS-65.

<< <i>I've never seen or heard of a 72/72 in lower grades. I'd love to see one of those. Speaking of low grades Lincolns, I don't think I've ever seen one in VG08 or less for ANY year (after 1958). I wonder why that is? Some of these have now had 40 years to circulate. Why no super low grade cents? >>
A few reasons I can think of right off, and probably a few I'm missing...
1. Many more were made, thus more to take the brunt of circulation. You also won't find most 1950s wheaties in less than VF.
2. Of course less time to circulate than the wheaties.
3. Many were tossed into jars, cans, and bottles, not spent. Back in the thirties, most people didn't have that luxury.
4. They have been worth less in the past 40 years than in any other time in history. A bit of a detrement to their circulating.

$20 St. Gaudens in VG are worth $300 and in MS-65 they are worth $875. Have seen a few of these in my life.
