Well I got the results back today and my SGC92 Mike Shannon crossed over to a PSA 8 I didn't think there was much of a chance for a 9 and was more concerned with solidifying the 8. I paid $100 for the card which is much better than the $499 someone paid for the first copy. I offered $250 for that card so I'm ahead $150 in my book.

Congratulations on finally getting the legendary Mike Shannon card in PSA 8 condition, and best of luck on completing your 1969 set!
That's great! One of these days, my ship will come in and I'll try to get a Shannon in 8. Enjoy it!

Hang in there Dude, you'll get yours sooner than you expect. I never thought I'd find one for a price I'd be willing to pay. Then one day I happened to search eBay for 'SGC' (which I rarely do) and bingo, there it was!
At what point will the Shannon no longer be the "chase" card for the set? Which card is primed to take over?

Marc - Well it's hard to say which will be the chase card now. The #663 Dick Raditz is still a chase card as is the Tom Tresh, Tom Satriano and Jose Santiago. But I would say the toughest right now has to be the #83 Mike Ferraro which is the only card remaining without an 8 or better. But I don't think the Shannon is going to be a $50 card anytime soon. There are still only three 8's and one 9 despite all the attention and publicity it has received of late within the dealer/collector circles. Perhaps when the population gets up to 10, then the Shannon will lose some of its luster. Having spent a significant amount of time searching through dealer inventory and seeing and hearing about vending runs that lack a nice Shannon, it will remain one of the toughest cards in the set.
