New Forum Requests

Many of you have been requesting the opening of the Q &A forum so all of David's posts and your questions can be consolidated.
I will talk to him about this when I get my turn later this morning.
Until then, if you all want, I can lock his Answer posts to the top.

What do you all think?

Carol

  • Don't lock, just wait your turn and see what he says.

    Sounds good to me image
  • No lock. People can find the posts.
  • A Q & A forum would be the wisest use of his time.
  • That's what I thought.
I know how you all don't like threads at the top...

People can find the posts only because people have TTT'd them. I think locking the important ones would be a good idea. It's not like we're talking about it being up there indefinitely.

I think that fits well in the concept of sharing valuable knowledge.

BTW - You should probably create a new forum called Coin BBS so all of the BBS noise that goes on in the US Coin Forum can have it's own home. The US Coin Forum can be used as a source of discussion about coins, and all of the other useless noise could go elsewhere.

  • I think a separate forum is a good idea also.
We'll see when my number is called.

Do you have to go up to one of those machines that spits out a number ticket and wait until it comes up on the overhead display? image
  • Nothing as fancy as an overhead display. He'll just call out my number.
I'm just trying to figure out who I can trade numbers with to move up the line image

Carol I don't know if you ever did implement the member-moderator idea you had but we are starting to really need them around here, it's getting thick. We just lost lordmarcovan who got sick of the bickering around here.

I agree to this as well, right now I don't think it would be a problem getting volunteers to help moderate the boards. Instead of the ability to "block out" certain members, (that is best left up to the administrators) maybe the ability to kill the whole thread if it is nothing more than personal attacks with no intelligent discourse of the intended topic. "Off topic" items should still be allowed IMO as long they are not personal vendettas against one or more forum members, these almost always tend to escalate with several others jumping into the fray. If these vicious threads would get nipped in the bud ASAP, it wouldn't take long to get back to coins.
    Sincerely,
    Joe
    P.S. David Hall's Q & A posts logically belong in the Q & A forum.

Carol - You make it sound like a bakery with the numbers.

Get me a dozen bear claws, a dozen jelly donuts and a pound

of butter cookies. Thank you Bear

Odd that a Bear would request...bear claws! image
  • They are out of bear claws sorry!

We are still working on the moderator thing. I do know that we have put one in the sports forum as a guinea pig to see how it works.
