For Coin Weenies only....

....like me. Hey, isn't it like an early Christmas, having you know who (DH) posting in this forum?

Wouldn't it be cool if PCGS and NGC started really competing against each other for accuracy and customer service?

I mean.....whoa!

Just what is the definition of a weenie?image

I agree, this is a big event for this board and I think a lot of information is being dispersed to help answer a lot of questions and to hopefully quash the rumors and inuendo.

    Joe.
  • Much of the outside world (and some of our spouses) view our passion with small metal objects as somewhat akin to nerdish.

So, 'weenie' is kind of a friendly term that most of us coin weenies refer to each other with to communicate our understanding of how
some of the world views us.

It's kinda like a personal injury lawyer who beats people to the punch by referring to himself as a snake. You're going to get called that anyway,
so he might as well join in the fun and enjoy life rather than get too bothered by the inevitable.

Those of us with strong constitutions don't mind the term 'weenie' as long as it's said with a smile, and my intent in using it
was just to lure people into this thread without getting "the man" to see us so happy about him being here, for as long as he can stand it.

There. That was pretty non controversial and non-offensive, I hope.

In my business, everyone assumes we're selling silicon snake oil... And there's a great book with that title by Cliff Stoll. His first book, "Cuckoo's Egg" is a cool read.

I spent too much time in my life tippy-toeing around, thinking over, and then rethinking things before I said them to a couple of my exes. Only to find, that if they were looking for a fight, there was going to be one no matter what.

    I walk flat-footed now.

It used to be on this forum if you sneezed, half a dozen members would shout out, "God Bless You". Now, almost all turn away and hope they don't catch a cold.

I saw the Hot Dog car while driving up to LA once along the I-5. I just stopped at Weinersnitzel so I held my hot dog out of the car to show the driver and got a thumbs up.

that's exactly the type of vehicle to use. very inconspicuous. Who would think the weinermobile was there to bust them?

Gotta be smarter. Our City vehicles are the same as the undercover police vehicles, so you don't know if that exempt plate belongs to a cop or the Director of Finance.

there always needs to be some kind of incentive to foster competition...

    how about this...

start a grading/encapsulation service that simply calls an uncirculated coin,"strictly," "choice," or "gem"...

the market value of the coin has absolutely no bearing on the opinion of whether its
    "strictly"(uncirculated),"choice" or "gem"...one price for the opinion is charged,say $10 or $15...

the accuracy problem is solved...it could work...
