    Nice photos! How about trying a reflective light shot? Instead of having the light shine onto the devices of the coin from the side, try to have the light bounce off the coin straight into the lens of the camera...a bit tricky, but the best numismatic photos are taken this way.

    scans photos? what did you use?

    I used a Olympus c-3000 zoom.
    Full zoom ,macro setting on, no flash.
    Shot thru a 5 inch mag. glass.
    I used 2 - 75 watt Reveal bulbs as lighting.
