Should I renew my PCGS Collectors Club membership?

If my four "free" submissions are going to come back as bodybags or two points undergraded, I don't think it will be worth the $99. What are the chances this will happen if I join and submit within the next month?

Why waste your money on this membership? If you're an ANA member, you can submit to NGC for free. Are your coins such that the choice of service matters *that* much?

Or, go through a trusted dealer...

About 100% - I joined as a platinum member and went 0/8 on crossovers, all as nice as the PCGS coins I own. Now I get to enjoy the MS68 silver eagle and access to the Pop. report...image

I'll expand. ANA members can submit to NGC without joining their club. The submissions aren't free. image

Thanks, Greg, for the followup clarification. My wording was poor. That you understood me was scary!

I would never join any club that would have me as a member...

I don't see the benefit of joining any of the "collectors clubs". Pcgs or Ngc. I take that back. I have easy access to submitting dealers, so submissions are very easy for me. If that wasn't the case..............You can still submit without joining one of the "clubs" though, correct? I guess I'd way the cost savings on the free submissions for joining against the membership fees, and go from there.

Based on your specifics,I'd say no.I don't believe that would be the case.If you submitted now and were confident in your gradeing skills, there shouldn't be a problem. In case anyone is curious,I just renewed my membership in PCGS Collectors Club.I've already submitted my (4) freebies.I'll let everyone know how I do.

Hmm, I don't remember seeing any of these when I joined ANA this summer... May have been a promotional thing.

    Shiroh,

I personally will renew my membership, and I agree with Merz2's assessment on the benefit.

Regarding the ANA membership, well, don't forget the ANA was a "blight on numismatics," according to some not very long ago. By the way, I am an ANA member and will renew there also.

  • A little over a year ago,I got a promo from the ANA in the mail.I called, and they said I had to mail it in for the benifits as listed.I talked to another department, and they said, reluctantly, that the would sign me up on the phone and send me the bennies. For $29,I recieved a Vigor loupe(list,$20)An ANA lanyard(list,$5)One free submision to NGC,a book on creating a type set,and discount coupons on submisions and books.I stongly sugest you call and say you are interested in joining, and to send you,by mail, more info.

Over the last year I have found a dealer I can trust to prescreen any possible PCGS submissions(although I don't think I will submit anything until the dust settles). I recieved the PCGS CC renewal form last week. I did not even open it and thru it away.
