And thinking of Mr. Hall's comments about explaining the doctoring technique that was probably used on the 13-D Saint....

I would love to see a regular feature here by one of the graders/authenticators on numismatic issues such as detecting a particular type of counterfeit with pictures (even if just a paragraph and a picture illustration) or a pic on artificial toning and what to look for, etc.

    i doubt that digital media like this is the appropriate place in the case of a-t. nothing compares to seeing it in person. not easy w/ counterfeits either

    True, but some do work well enough that way. But those were examples. I'm thinking mostly in the realm of anything education-oriented for those of us (which I know includes you image ) who are interested in learning more. Other examples: explaining how a particular error type is made, explaining the varieties in mint marks for a given year, a cool technique for imaging coins. That type of thing. While all of these things can be found in books, there is something gained with the dynamic of an open audience discussing it. (of course, sometimes it's scuttled by being open, too...)
