Heritage FUN loaded with condition rarities

Even though Heritage is in the early stages of listing their FUN previews, the number of condition rarities posted on only 17 pages is very impressive. Seems like many have decided the timing is right to sell. Just the ones I've noticed:

1856 Flying Eagle PCGS MS66 (S-3) pop 1/0
1858 LL Flying Eagle PCGS MS67 pop 1/0 and the only FE to grade 67 by PCGS.
1861 Indian Head PCGS MS68 pop 1/0 & the only CN IH to grade 68 by PCGS. A better image.
1899 Indian Head PCGS MS68RD pop 1/0 and the only bronze IH to grade 68RD by PCGS.
1954 Lincoln PCGS PR68DCAM pop 4/0
1963 Lincoln PCGS PR70DCAM pop 1/0 & 1 of only 2 pre-1970 Lincolns to grade 70DCAM by PCGS (1964).

1903 Liberty Nickel NGC PR68CAM pop 2/0

1920-S Standing Liberty Quarter PCGS MS68FH pop 1/0 and the only SLQ to grade 68 by PCGS.
1865 Seated Quarter NGC PR68CAM pop 1/0
1941-D Washington Quarter NGC MS68(*) pop 1/0

1868 Seated Half NGC PR67 pop 1/1
1934 Walking Liberty Half PCGS MS68 pop 6/0
1935-S San Diego Commem PCGS MS68 pop 1/0

In addition, two Flying Eagle PR65s I really look forward to seeing: 1857 and 1858.

When I read the heading to your thread, I was expecting to see a bunch of MS68 state quarters listed....image...

Paul, there is also a unique proof 1907 Indian Eagle up for grabs. Coin World has a picture of it on page 17. Heritage is saying it is to their knowledge the first public auction appearance. Its a plain edge pattern, graded NGC proof 62 satin.

John - the plane fare for previewing them will be as high as I can go.

Mike - how could I leave that out! If you scroll down a bit here's a nice image of the plain edge Eagle.

you going to take some NICE pictures for us??

I think Heritage will add digital images of many of these once they officially post the auction. But I hope someone I know winds up with the 1899 68RD, I'd love to get a huge jpeg of that one for posterity.
  • I'll take the seated half in PR-67 or the V-nickel, or the MS-66 FE

Wow, I am not a collector of gold, but the 1907 is one fantastic coin.
  • In the late '80's a dealer friend showed me a '56 FE graded PCGS Pr 66. The coin just dripped with peach fuzz lustre and was a true wonder coin. I believe that the price was around $6500. I later learned that the eventual purchaser of the coin decided to break the coin out and resubmit it. I guess that it came back again as a PR 66 - this time with a huge fingerprint on the coin.

The 1899 cent MS68RD is wow. Wouldn't that make a great type coin?
  • The 1864 Seated Liberty Quarter is my favorite by far. It is unbelievable that a coin could survive so perfect for so many years.

I noticed they also have one of those "someday, perhaps I'll own one of these coins," a cam proof 4 dollar stella. Link-O-Rama
  • While everyone is drooling over all these ultra high grade beauties, I'll just settle for this lowly VF35

    PCGS VF35
I am no longer looking for an 1815/2

Just checked the PCGS pops - the 1899 68R is now pop 2image Wonder if it's the same coin or another made it??

  • JimD, your "lowly" VF35 looks pretty darn good to me.
Friends are Gods way of apologizing for your relatives.

I love Jim's VF35 also, it belongs with the rest.

Lakesammman -- I asked Rick Snow about that mysterious "other" 1899 68RD at Long Beach and he said it doesn't exist. He seemed pretty certain about it. I'm not sure if he feels that way because he's never heard mention of it or met anyone who has, or if he had some other knowledge about it. Both have been on the pops for at least 5 years.
