Marshall Fogel

I am grateful and excited to have been a participant in the PSA set registry competition. Thankyou for your best wishes and congratulations. Equally important as the awards are the friendships that we all make through collecting and the message boards.

Winning the best collection award is a highlight for me. With this award, I believe that a responsibility ensues. That responsibility is to share my knowledge and help to any of you no matter the size your collections.

I also would invite any of you who visit Denver to let me know in advance as I would be happy to have you as a guest to view my collection. Sharing my collection with my fellow collectors would be fun for me as well. Hopefully, my travels out of Colorado will not interfere with accomodating our visit.

I also would hope that the PSA staff would facilitate the view of any of the sets at different show sites so that any of you as well as the public could enjoy the sets that I have collected.

I also wish to thank Dave Twelliger, Shane Leonard, Jim Crandal, Paul Cohen and Rob McBride for helping my complete my sets.

I would also like to thank 707, Champs and Bums, Goodwin and Co. Baseball Card Exchange, Mastronet,
Dave Foreman, Shoebox Cards, Andy Madec, Sportscards Plus, Superior Sportcards, Mile Hi Cards, Kurts Kards, Memory Lane, and the many other dealers and ebay sellers who assisted me in assembling this collection.

Special thanks to my good friends, David Hall, Joe Orlando, BJ Sears and Gayle Kean of Collectors Universe.

Lastly Congratulations to all the award winners and to all the participants. Sincerely Marshall Fogel

    Marshall,
glad to be a drop in the very big bucket.
The question I have for you is this:
what are the favorite sets and individual cards in your collection??
does it change from time to time??
(hah!- now you'll be up all night debating).
Seriously,.... I never got around to asking you that question and I'm sure that you have a captive audience here that would be interested in what cards still have that special effect on you.

Marshall, a BIG congrats to you! as a "little guy" on the registry scale, it's nice to know a person like you is out there and willing to share both your collection and your knowledge with the rest of us. even with all you have in your collection, it really sounds as if you have a genuine "love" for each and every card you collect...not just for the monetary reason, but for the nostalgia itself. i was browsing through the sept 2000 issue of the smr and read the article you wrote about your purchase of the psa 10 52 topps mantle...great story! i hope to someday take advantage of your offer to view your collection...but until then, get some more pics out there! thanks from all of us and congrats again!! tim hadley

Sincere congrats to Marshall, really outstanding sets !!!

I quite agree with Murcerfan, ....It would be very interesting to hear about your favorites and why some cards/sets are more "special" to you. I think we would all enjoy hearing similar from some of the other "Superstar" collectors as well.
This aint no party,... this aint no disco,.. this aint no fooling around.

    Marshall,
thanks for the post. some interesting choices.
Sievers '52 topps would not have been one of my guesses. Is yours a 9 or 10?
oddly, I just bought one of those last week.....hmm.....subliminal messages?

Here is one of the nicer examples of that card -- albeit a tad off-center:

And here is a copy of the Burgress card. This has also always been one of my favorite cards -- and it is dastardly difficult to find this card in top grade:
