Was on ebay and saw this. Sorry I don't know how to link. Item # 1395173140. I thought the 65/66/67 sets were all sms. But this dime is graded proof. Am I missing something? thanks, Mark

The owner obviously believes that the coin is not mislabeled. There were polished planchets used for some of th SMS dimes. If one of these were struck twice the re- sultant coin would be a proof since the dies were prepared as proof dies. I've never seen a proof dime in an SMS, but have heard rumors of them since the beginning.
Obviously a messed up label. You note that he shows a close up of the label but not one of the coin. That's probably because you can tell even from the so so scan of the whole slab that this coin wouldn't even rate the cam designation. So it's not a proof and it's not a cam, any bets that it's not a 69 either?

<< <i>Check the population reports, this coin is one of a kind and there are none graded higher. >>
What pop reports?
<< <i>This is a truely unique item that is a one of a kind. >>
Not hardly. There's plenty of junk in NTC slabs. Oh, wait, maybe he's referring to something else?

Man, did this guy get screwed.

<< <i>So, is this coin something to be excited about, or a mistake by the grading company? >>
