You guys are to hard on David Hall. David always returns my e-mails (Sometimes we agree, sometimes we don't..... atleast he replys!) David has always been willing to listen and help with problems. I have to laugh at all these people that have never even talked to him... but bash him. PCGS does thing I don't like....PCGS doesn't do thing I think they should do. I have question about the way C.U. does Biz sometimes................. but what company is ever perfect?

You guys complain about David not posting more.... then bash him when he does!!??

Well I haven't bashed him, but you are right he doesn't post much, so when he posts something like he just did, we should kiss his ring? Sorry spooly I am still confused about the point of his post. Maybe you can expand on it?

It looks like NGC made the second part of this fact official. On their web site is a message confirming that Rick Montgomery is joining their company on December 12, 2002 and he will be a Senior Vice President and partner (owner) in the firm and he will be grading and authenticating there.

NGC moved there several months ago. I believe NCS is in the same building, but I've never gotten an actual answer to that.

    Spooly,

How could you sit there and say Mr. Hall (who doesnt have time to reach out to his customers and the "general" numismatic community) does not deserve a bashing because he isnt here?

He won't take the time to talk to his greatest audience. US!! He said it right there in his post and mind you .. he hasnt returned since.

PS...I usually don't have time to read the message boards, so if you want to get ahold of me, please call me or Sandy direct.

    What does that tell you?!!

I'm not defending anyone here, or speaking to anyone in particular.

My father is not computer literate but he does take phone calls. Maybe Hall doesn't have the computer skill set. I finally got my father e-mailing me, but he is slow and can't type very well so it frustrates him. He's not old, he just didn't grow up with computers like I did. I don't bash him when he actually e-mails me.

If you want to talk to David Hall, why don't you pick up the phone and call him, instead of expecting him to read every jot and tittle on the boards. God knows I can't read them all. If I were him, I would have BJ give me a rundown frequently, but I wouldn't read all the posts.

Although I might get stoned since you guys have given Rick "Saint" status, but I would bet that Rick didn't read them either. His main participation was in the last couple of months in a completely rigid format on the Q&A board, where you couldn't shoot back at him. Sort of like the Wizard of Oz . . . . "Ignore that little man behind the curtain . . . "

You have to be kidding........ lets see does the CEO of GE chat on message boards? How about the CEO of GM? How about the CEO of HP? How about the CEO NGC? How about Pres. Bush?

He already gave you a way to talk to him if you need to. The guys on the Registry forum have had a e-mail link to David Hall for over a year now.

In the world on Biz... it's easier to get a hold of David Hall than most CEO/Owners!

I didn't say he should be posting here, and after his post its probably a good idea he doesn't. image

Rick used to be a frequent forum member. If you asked a question here it was VERY likely that he would answer the question before anyone else.

David Hall got flamed from the beginning and ran away. I can understand that.

Greg, most of the members now never saw Rick post on the old boards. That was over 2 to 3 years ago.

P.S. DMWJR is correct..... David Hall is NOT a computer guy.

  • You guys that keep bashing David Hall and beatifying Rick Montgomery should probably move over to the NGC forums. I heard that they are going to have a song and dance contest over there with the winner receiving a new job with the title "Hawker of NGC Coins on Coin Vault."

Fair enough. Just remember to genuflect everytime the name David Hall is spoken of image

I was just in Sarasota and NCS is on the opposite end of the building from NGC.

All of this distress has to do with our not having information. All we know is that Montgomery, apparently on his own, decided it was best for him to leave PCGS and join NGC.

We are justified in worrying what this means/says about PCGS.

I'm willing to wait a little while, because PCGS may know know themselves what this means.

Before too long, though, they'd better take decisive, clear and unequivocable steps to shore up customer confidence. Appearances of disarray will hurt them, if allowed to remain in place.

toothpuller, is that dance anything like the "deathcoin dance"? By the way I have two brothers who are oral surgeons, they both give of their time to do work at prisons, does that mean they should do the prison party dance? (btw just yanking on your chain a bit).

  • I can remember when Rick Montgomery posted on the old forums and it was good to hear from someone on the inside. I can understand why David Hall doesn't post because he's busy and maybe not comfortable on a computer; but someone from the company should stop in occasionally to answer a question or two. That would seem easier than them having to field a hundred phone calls.

I remember having to explain to Rick Montgomery how to do certain things on ebay as he was a little bit weak on computers. Heck most of (over 40 set) us were when we first started out?

But I am sure our best friend will be David Hall's son who will teach him to be real saavy in all the ways of the computer!!!!

David Hall: You should have all of your staff mix it up a bit with us in a new category called PCGS staff forum so that once in a while a staffer can get their day in the "sun" (or get roasted appropriately image )

You should have some kind of a staff forum for each of your divisions, stamps, PSA, etc.

Each staff memeber needs to take their turn in the chat. If they don't know the answer to a given question........well then they don't know and will find out??? Good free staff training.

A superb way to cross train staff!

Also this is a lot cheaper than using the 800 line exclusively!!!
