My special K Kongratulations (big K high 5) to GEMMINTMAN on his unbelieveable 1970 Kellogg's set!

Another super kudo congratulations goes to Frank Bakka and his mind blowing 1972 Topps Baseball set! You deserve a plaque that weighs about a ton for that monster you built!

  • KING KELLOGG - thanks for your very kind words, and kongratulations on all of your 3-D wallpaper. That's why you're the "KING" image.

I will proudly display my "1964 Topps Giants" certificate and "1970 Kellogg's" certificate.

We had a ton of board members taking home Registry Certificates. I would like to hear from many of them too.

BTW if anyone is curious what the Icon looks like next to the best set take a look for example at the 1933 Goudey Baseball...

  • Ah yes!

My walls will be plastered with the two certificates that I shall be receiving!

My 1956 Adventure set, yep! I beat the other guy out! image

And the 1965 Topps Battle, which is so fargin' obsure, rare, never ever seen in any condition better than VG, hardly ever submitted for grading (40% of the entire pop is in my set), and so unpopular that I was the only registered set. image

I won a certificate but it certainly doesnt rate with some of the heavy hitting sets: Vince Carter Rookie player set..

I hope to finish it this coming year as well as my 86-87 fleer bsk set that is in a lowly 29th place currently

    Hey King Kellogg!

Yup - I'm in there with the 72 Topps set and just missed winning the 72 OPC Baseball set (47.6% doesn't cut it!!!) so wait'l next year!

Its been a lot of fun putting it together - so far 26 PSA 10's, 529 PSA 9's and 232 PSA 8's and always looking to upgrade!!!

I've had some tremendous help from my wife for putting up with this obsession, along with Steve Peckovich, Mike Castaldi, Erik Jarvi, Neil Downey, Andy Montero, Ebay and a host of others!!!!

Looks like I took home 4 winners, And the only completed set of the 4 is a Kellogg's, imagine that!
The irony is that all 4 of my winning sets do not equal a fraction of the time and finances that I've spent for my #1 project, the '65 set, where I comfortably reside in 5th place. I moved up a spot through no fault of my own, when Wayne sold his set.
I guess I'll have to dig out my tuxedo, cane and top hat for the awards affair. Wouldn't that be neat. Fellow actors hand out the Oscars to the winners, and athletes hand out the ESPY's as well. So I would like the legendary ZARDOZ and GEMMINTMAN present me with my winning certificates. Then we can all sip Kool-Aid while munching on FROOT LOOPS....jay
  • I won a certificate for my 1970 Rold Gold set. It's only a 15 card set but its the first graded card set I ever completed and it took me a long time to finally get the last Babe Ruth card for the set. My Don Mattingly player set was not complete enough to win a certificate, but maybe it will be by the end of next year.
  • First I would like to thank PSA for a great concept in the PSA registry. And secondly I won a certificate for the 1964 Topps beatles color category. Also anybody know were to puchase high end 1964 Topps beatles color cards. Thanks again PSA.

  • << <i>So I would like the legendary ZARDOZ and GEMMINTMAN present me with my winning certificates >>

Ok, that sounds like fun Jay. I'll be Billy Crystal and Zardoz can be Whoopi Goldberg.

First off, congratulations to all the registry winners. Particularly, I'd like to congratulate Ron Hobbs for assembling a very impressive 1969 set at 8.15.

I got a good laugh when I realized I won a certificate for the Thurman Munson set. I also feel kind of embarrassed and unworthy since I'm not really building that player set. I'm collecting him by default due to the fact that I have high grade complete sets from the years he played. I'm the only person to register a set under his catagory which is surprising since I did not request the set to be added to the registry. I guess the original requester gave up before he started his quest. Out of the 30 sets I have registered, that's the only certificate I won. But it's good to see a large diversity of collectors winning certificates. That will help ensure the strength of our hobby for years to come.

Zardoz - I'm surprised you didn't request a Jose Canseco player set. You could have won a certificate for a mainstream set by virtue of having the most PSA 10 1986D rookies!

  • Although I won a certificate for my Billy Williams set, Ive been thinning that set lately and am happy that many of my former Billy Williams 9's and 10's have found homes in major award winning sets.

In fact, Im actually more happy about being in second place on the 1964 Giants list than winning the Williams certificate.

Many hearty congrats to Gemmint on a set equally, if not more amazing, than his 1970 Kellogg's set.

His 9.38 rating equals the finest possible rating for the set. What a fabulous set.

And congratulations to everyone here. This registry and these boards have truly revitalized my spirit for the hobby.

Nice going guys.Glad to see so many collectors hard work for those nice vintage sets recognized and honored from PSA.I envy all of you as I tip my hat and look in awe, while inspired to someday achieve what many of you have espically those with the 51B,52,55-6,61,67-71Ts.

I enjoy being the small potato I am in this place and won some little award for my 80T baseball set which is flattering besides nice to come home and see this evening.Basically that set was like a starter set to get an idea of how the registry worked. The 80 set is not like my dream sets(The:51 Bowman or "52",55,56,61,67- 71 Topps sets),so I felt it would be an inexpensive set to try to complete while nobody else was really working on it but I was wrong on all assumptions.I've come across a lot of dealers & collectors who build, submit, and like that set. Some of these people I consider friends and It's been an honor within itself to have dealt with them in every aspect.

Also,I'd like to thank a few board members like:

Jay c/o QC for getting me started with a few cards from his websight and encouraging the registry attempt.

Mike Castaldi for his extremely valued advice which I take into consideration until this day(Mike I have two cards I'd like to send to say THANKS!)

Mr.Markell for doing me a little favor and getting me one of my first cards when jumpstarting the set.

Paul Moss for sending me card savers(I swear someday I'm going to put them to good use)

The other non 80T registry collectors whom I've bought, sold to or traded with.

My fellow 80T collectors(You know who you are) who have worked togethor on countless deals and yielding the right of way to one another when auctions popped up for cards we all needed.

Dealers - BBC-Steve Hart rules!,DWARREN,FIVESTAR,Luke Browning,Steve Creason(Purely PSA),Bruce Mo(Yes,I was the other guy who bought along with Jeff) and a bunch of other ebay sellers.

Oh yeah, most of all thanks to PSA!Particularly Gayle,BJ,Stacy,Carol who were always there when needed sometimes above & beyond the call of duty.

Anyhow guys(and girls),thanks for the help, the adventures, advice and taking collecting to a new level for me.

  • Congratulations to all the winners. There are some marvelous accomplishments all over.

The key here is for all of us to achieve 100% of the sets dear to our hearts and pocketbooks.

CU -- thanks for making it fun.

  • Congratulations to all the winners. These are truly labours of love.

I got the one certificate I was after, for the 1964 Topps Baseball. It is the only set I am actively working on. I set two one year goals for this set when I started it last Thanksgiving.

Goal #1 was to obtain all the cards in PSA 8 or better. I'm still three cards short on that. Cards #2, #473, and #509 which are the three PSA 7's in my set. But when you consider that a year ago there were almost a dozen cards which had never been graded an 8, and many PSA 8 1/1's, I'm happy with my progress.

Goal # 2 was to obtain a Weighted Average of 8.5. That one I will reach by Thanksgiving. I just need to wait for the mail to bring the last few cards I have purchased.

Thank you to everyone I have purchased cards from here, there are just too many ot list them all.

Will be the proud recipient of three certificates for my football sets.

    1961 and 1962 Fleer, and 1964 Topps.
Could have had 1967 Topps as well but got sniped in the last few days. image

The number of cards in the four sets are 220, 88, 176 and 132,
so, I really have to admire you baseball set collectors, not only for the sheer number of cards in your sets,
but for the number of people you're competing against.

Oh well, I'm collecting what I love, and if the sets are small, and there's not much competiton,
I'm content to be a medium size fish in a small puddle.

Congratulations to everyone who participated, and thank you PSA for the Registry, and the "specials",
and may the coming year bring enrichment and enjoyment to all !

  • Hello,

As my venture continues I have vowed to do this puppy in 9
and higher I find it nearly impossible on my own as I am now
within 40 or so cards to 100% psa permitting.

I wan't to thank psa for brainstorming the whole thing up
definitly has spurred the hobby and interest again...

So with that said thank you, thank you. And we'll see what
my submission brings today more 10's????????? We'll see..

    Thanks, Matt

Congrats to all the winners. My certificate for the 1956 Topps Davy Crockett Green set is very important to me. I've been working on this set for 10 years, but my only reason for grading it was the recent Non-Sports special. I am very glad that I did. image

I am thankful to have won the certificate for the 1971 Topps Greatest Moments set. This was very tough due to the heavy competition from Hulet, SEINBIGD, my buddy Terwilliger, and Scott Webb. A special thanks to Paul Starks and WIWAG for finding some of the nicest sets in the hobby. It has been a real joy trying to make these tough sets and having them registered under the set registry, but the true joy from all of this are the friendships that are established. Thanks for a great year.

  • I was lucky enough to manage one certificate this year, for my Johnny Bench player set. I'm still a few cards away from reaching my goal of completing the basic set in at least a 9 ('71 Topps, '71 Topps GM (will have to settle for an 8), '72 Topps and '72 Topps In Action). My goal for next year is to complete this set, as well as work on my Joe Morgan and Tony Perez player sets, which have yet to be posted on the registry. I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience of communicating with people from the registry and really hope to meet some of you at next year's National Show in AC.
  • Congrats to all of the winners. There are some outrageous sets registered now.

I won the T205 award for my collection that has been 10 years in the making. I still remember the first Gold Border card I ever saw, a Roger Breshnahan, closed mouth, which was sitting in a lucite holder propped up in a dealer display case at a card show I visited to obtain Ted Williams' autograph. When I walked by the case, my head snapped back like a just saw a gorgeous woman. I was fascinated by the beautiful color of the card and the fact that it was over 80 years old. At the time, I didn't even know that they made baseball cards back then!

Well, over the years, I've scoured countless show in a maniacal hunt for the elusive Golden Ones. The first big show I went to was the National in Houston in 1994. I found some nice and made the acquiantance of Alan Hager. I put a deposit on some incredible T205s with him and, well, let's just say that I got my money back from him at the National in Cleveland in 1997.

I got into PSA grading pretty early on, about 1993 and have had an up and down experience with them over the years. I STILL think they grade too harshly on cards that old, but consistency is more important and I still believe that PSA is the most consistent grading company out there.

I've had my share of near-misses, at auctions and with dealers, but the thrill of finding that hard-to-find card still equates to my youthful Easter egg hunt joys. Only last week, in Lew Lipset's auction, did I finally get the Drum back I was lacking to complete my Master Set-every player, variation, and back produced. Now I just hope it grades out...

Anyway, I will continue to upgrade the set my, even though my wife STILL wants me to sell it to pay for our son's college. Maybe some day, you never know.

I will now shift my primary focus to my T200 Fatima team set collection. It ties in nicely to my T205 set, as many of the players featured in the 205 can be seen in the PICTURES on the T200 set.

    The chase continues....
  • I'm happy to be able to post that I won two certificates. The 1960 Nu-Card Hi Lites and the 1961 Nu-Card Baseball Scoops. Congrats to all winners.
I collect the 1960 and 1961 Nu Card issues. I also enjoy the 1959 Fleer Three Stooges.
  • I won one for my measly 1973 '53 Topps Test Issue (only 8 cards). No one else has registered one.
  • I won for my 1969 Topps Decals Set Pretty cool stuff... I am over 80% done I hope tp finnish it up by the end of the year..... Jeff

  • Anj- There is no such thing as a measly set. If so, Ill take all of the measly sets you dont want.

If its important to you, its an important set. You are just on the cutting edge by posting your set first image.

And as far as the certificate goes (and this is coming from a person who won a certificate for a player set in which I was the only registrant)...they dont say how, they just say how many.

You and I have 1 each image.

    Take care
  • FIRST CONGRATS TO EVERYONE not just the winners but everyone who has chosen to make thier collection available for all to see.in the short time i have placed posts and responded to others i have meet some great folks, of course many fellow collectors . but mainly just down right good people!! i was lucky enough to have won a couple awards for my two 66 football sets my topps set and funnyring set , by the way the funnyring set was harder then the reg issue. we must all thank psa for making this all possible.the great thing about this hobby is it does not matter if you collect t206,s, 52 topps bb, kellogs cards player sets or even 90,s stuff we all understand the lure of the chase and respect the effort each guy or gal put into their collection. it is not all about money but the love of the hobby and the games we all love so much. as i said before i have met many great folks but i can not go without giving special recognition to a few who have made the quest a truely enjoyable journey. rob holder of the # 2 topps all american set helped fuel my love of the classic set. rick snyder at mint state who started me collecting aa,s. stongate a longtime collector in a leauge way above mine but always willing to try to help the avg guy.to many more to mention. well in closing see you in the common bins image AND PLEASE PREY FOR THE SKINS WE NEED HELP
  • Hi

I am the winner of 2 certificates. The Terry Bradshaw Player Set and the NFL Rushers set. I thought I had the All-Time Steelers too (100% completion with highest rating)...can't win 'em all. As you can probably tell, I'm a die-hard Steelers fan. My all-time favorite player was Terry Bradshaw and I felt that I had to have the best set. By the way, still looking for about 3 more 9s. I love this PSA Registry thing. It has brought back a lot of fun for me.

I was in a good competition on the Bradshaw set all the way to the end. I had been the leader since it came up on the Registry and lost the lead with about 2 weeks to go. I had gotten a card from Mint State to push me over the top.

My newest venture is the Pro Football Hall of Fame set. Got about 43% complete, mostly all RCs of the HOFers. I want to get that completed with all rookie cards. Some of those old ones will be in 7s but my ideal grade is 8s from like 1965 to 1980 and PSA 9s from 1981 to present. I love this one because there is always additions to it every year.

Take care and congratulations to all that won and even to those that didn't.

    Jeff
Always looking for high-grade Terry Bradshaw and Steelers cards.
