Are 1999 silver proof sets fairly valued?

Last I checked, they were at 130 bid/150 ask. They've steadily been climbing up. Are there really that few of them around? Is it time to unload?

(I'm not sure how many of them were actually sold, so the actual number of them in existance may be much lower than the number that were minted.)

  • Sell them today. You can buy them back at $90 in a year.

    Probably true.
Also ,Same deal on those Buffalo Dollars.Maybe near topping out.
BUT,Who knows.A strong demand will keep those prices lofty.

if you sell them today you'll be kicking yourself in the a$$ 08, I think the price will peek out 10x what you paid for them.

  • There are 800,000 1999 silver proof sets, give or take a few thousand. They SOLD OUT at the mint. Thats not many when considering there can only be 800,000 complete sets of Statehood Quarters worldwide because 2000 and 2001 have higher mintages and 2002 is well on its way to the 800,000 mintage a month before Christmas.
IMHO there will never be cheaper than they are right now. This is a 10 year program (maybe 11) . We still have a long way to go and some BIG states still to come out. Lots of non collectors suddenly get interested when their state quarter is released.
  • I gotta agree with MacCoin & KenzoT.
    Hold a couple for yourself.
  • I hope and pray that MacCoin is right. CHA $$ CHING!!
