So I pay for my ebay coin purchase with a m.o. &

two and a half weeks later the seller still hasn't rec'd it. I get a friendly reminder last week about paying for a purchase. I respond that m.o.#12345678 was mailed the next day. (the money order had to travel all of 75 miles). He responds that 3 other people responded that they had paid also. We're all from different states, so he goes to his p.o. and they have no explanation. I have my m.o. receipt which says a replacement will be issued after 60 days. We're only talking $80 but it's still $80.
Do I send another payment and file a claim or wait the 60 days? P.S. I've dealt with the seller before and if he says he didn't get I believe him.

That's always a hard decision to make. Since you trust your seller and you have a legitimate claim with the postal service I would probably just send another payment and make the claim at the earliest opportunity. And make sure the seller, if they receive the money order before 60 days, returns it or destroys it so you can make your claim.
  • I had a guy pay me for some coins with a PO money order. Time went by and I didn't get it. He sent a replacement, and I got both the same day.
The first took about 5 weeks to get to me from the postmark date.
So give it some more time.

I had that happen once. I talked to the seller and we agreed to wait one month from when I sent it, if he didnt recveive it, I would send another ( I scanned the receipt and sent him a copy, just to show I had sent it)
It never arrived, I sent a new one and at the 60 day mark went to the PO and filed a claim for it.

  • Joe:I had that happen to me last month.I sent the money order out on the 10th of Oct and on the 18th I sent the seller a note asking him if he received payment,he sent me an E-Mail on the 21 Oct.saying he didn't.
A week later I got my package. The coins were awful.I checked with my postman and he said,"for every300 miles it takes 1 day.In my case I think I was scamed. You might want to go to the Post Office and find out when the M.O.was cashed.

  • Since it is someone with whom you have dealt in the past and trust, just send him a new payment. Ask him to endorse the first M.O. back to you if it shows up prior to the end of 60 days. If it doesn't show up after 60 days, then confirm it with him and file your claim.
