These are the two most expensive coins currently being offered on eBay. The ANACONDA Acugrade Liberty Nickle, finest and alone ....... and This Gem!!
Wasn't it just a month ago that Kincoin was selling this for $100,000? Darn I should have bought it when it was cheap!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
Out of the closet Morgan lover
By Accucrap standards, it never should have been better than an MS66!
But how can a dealer replace the coin in the holder without causing severe damage to the holder that would be obvious?

It was never meant to be sold or anything. They just did it to be funny. No one expected it to be up on ebay for $1,000,000.

Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.

Kranky,
Agreed. Anaconda has just provided Hager something he can point to and claim that their reputation for lousy grading has no basis because, after all, well-known dealers are offering rigged slabs in an effort to damage ACG. Very stupid move.

<< <i>Reckon ACG's lawyers will send sneakysnake a threatening lawsuit letter? >>
Since he's a lawyer himself, I'm sure he must have considered - and dismissed - that as a concern prior to listing the coin.

I believe a letter to the editor of CoinWorld magazine on November 11 by fellow board member Keith Dagen cites this same coin when it says:
"At a show three weeks ago in Dallas, a dealer handed me a coin slabbed by Accugrade as Mint State 67. The coin was a Liberty Nickel. Looking at the piece, the coin would grade Good 4 by American Numismatic Association standards, as the coin's details were worn that deep."
I'm sure Keith would never have made such a statement if he thought that this coin was not the original one that came with the slab. And as inconsistent as ACG may be in their grading, it' not right that they get slammed in a major trade magazine as a result of a prank. (if that's what, in fact, it is)
Truth of the matter is, I've received well over 100 emails from collectors thanking me for that listing. I've also received many phone calls from new collectors enquiring about the content. It's been a small yet positive thing for the collecting community. In Baltimore, I saw a print out of the auction in a dealer's case - he used it to strike up conversations with new collectors to educate them about Accugrade.
So, for those of you whose sphincters constrict your windpipe, you might just want to try not criticizing every thing you see because quite frankly, you are in no position to accurately assess things going on outside your, shall we say, areas of familiarity.

I think your auction has good intentions but think the point would be more powerful using a coin that had been actually slabbed by them. Saw a 1907 $10 Indian the other day in a MS-67 holder that had not only been cleaned but had a filed rim. Something like that would be perfect. Anyway if your auction stops people from overpaying for that junk it's a good thing.
Gotta go and take care of my twitching sphincter which does not reside in my throat.
I have a PCI slab that when I cracked, it fell perfectly apart at the seam. I had a "1972-S MS70" Ike insert I used and placed a beat up XF40 1972-S Ike in the holder. Superglued the two together and now have a fun conversation piece.
So, is the Accugrade slab a mechanical error (insert) or not?

I had not even thought about the possibility of it being an altered slab, until the Numish mentioned it here.
Btw, I have no love for ACG and no real reason to defend them. My only ACG purchase was a 1925-S Buffalo nickel that they graded MS-61, and when I went to sell it, could only get EF money for.
