Images of some of the "Newmismatist" Cam/DCam IH proofs

As mentioned by Rick Snow here, the top rated IH proof Registry Set, "Newmismatist", is hitting the auction blocks at the January F.U.N. show. Interesting collection in that it contains an amazing 13 cameos (2 of which are deep cam) but also has 16 RBs. It obviously wasn't assembled with only registry points in mind.

Images of the complete collection should be available on indianheads.org soon, but in the meantime here's 7 of the cameos c/o Heritage Numismatic Auctions. The 1864br PR64 is the only bronze IH to grade DCAM by PCGS, and while the images don't translate the mirrors or even the cameo in some cases, you get an idea of the quality: link.

The set grades 67.31 under the new weighting system, though some PCGS software bugs this weekend have "unweighted" it and dropped the set to 3rd.

Beee-utifal - wish I could afford to collect proofs too....thanks for the preview, Shylock.

As always the eye candy is great.Someone even suggested I send my babies to you to photograph. The sratches on the holders make it hard.I've thought about getting them pedigreed just to get them in new holders. If my 1954 PR68 NGC had crossed at the Baltimore Coin Show,I might have sent them in then.

  • Wow! I really like that 1864 in DCAM! With silver coins we say black and white cameo, with these I guess one would say red and white! I also like the color on the reverse of the '71.

When I get more money to spend on my type set I'd like to find a matte proof Lincoln in RB with wild colors...

Don -- your images look great on the Registry. It's not surprising there are almost no copper proof sets imaged on there, they really are some of the toughest coins to capture. It would be ideal to have your coins imaged raw, after they're cracked out for reholdering/pedigreeing. Too bad PCGS doesn't offer a service like that.

Carl -- I'm looking forward to seeing that DCAM 1864 in person. The owner said most who have seen it felt it was PR65.
