Is it appropriate to ask for coins on this forum?

I've been watching a few threads on people offering coins, some shocked and offended responsesimage, and what I believe is a majority position that it is all well and good to offer registry type coins to fellow board members.
Is it equally okay to ask for coins here also?image I'm a sensitive guy who takes too many comments personally. image

Sounds to me the registry forum is the perfect place, as long as it's done tastefully and w/o pressure. I'd be thrilled to hear from someone about a coin I need...image

Walkerguy: Absolutely it is appropriate to ask about the availability of a Registry quality coin on this forum. There may be some discussion about what constitutes a "Registry Quality" coin, but hopefully we can be friendly about it and not offend any sensabilities. Any "TOP POP" coin would certainly fall into this catagory. The runner up coins may well also if the top pops are not to be had at any reasonable level. Just my own quick definition of "Registry Coin".

    By the way, WELCOME!

  • Hey Dick nice name dont take it personal, = ) by the way I have WTC MS-70 1998 $5 (PCGS) for sale that are worthy of any registry set, PM me for more info... POP (16) 6 are WTC pedigree.
  • Thanks for the supporting positions. I'm only able to work with walkers at this time. I posted on yesterdays thread about where you wanted to go with your sets, and in a nutshell, for me it is only walkers. There are too many gorgeous sets to try to collect others on my budget.
Don't know how to link things, but anyone who enjoys Walkers, please visit my set. Walker short set, Richard D. Graham collection.
    Thanks.

The opinions expressed so far,are the general consensus. No one should take these boards personal. While I agree with most of the statements, the "Registry Quality" of a peticular coin is something that each individual collector must decide. There are many Registry Sets that have low grade MS coins in them. There are people who upgrade and need to sell the lower graded coins to do the upgrades. So by all means post a list. There may be some that can help you complete or upgrade your set.

    Welcome aboard Dick.

Love your set. I only wish mine could be close to as good some day.

BTW, do you know anything about the new Denali set. Sounds like it's from up here in Alaska, but I don't know any super high grade Walker collectors here. Would like to find this guy/gal if he is up here. Looks like the set is going to challenge for the top.

    Cheers

    Greg
  • Typetone - I would really like someone to own up to the Denali collection. I had asked on a previous thread if anyone knew. It almost feels like one of the old masters is putting up some of the long ago acquired coins. I would love to see the coins - maybe someday. Also, the Cajun collection is a to die for collection. Wish the owner would at least open it for viewing even if they wanted to remain annonomous.
Thanks to everyone who commented on my own small piece of the Walker community. Greg, your stuff is pretty top drawer too!
Any other Walker collectors, please drop your sets name on this thread. I'd love to trade emails with other collectors of the most under talked about set on this forum.

    Al-
I actually have a late date set up, Dick and Jan's Walkers. The first half of the set is better than the second half except for two coins that need upgrading. Take a look, we're pretty happy with it. Two upgrades are in the mill, stay tuned.

    Dick,

In keeping with your question "Is it appropriate to ask for coins on this forum?", I think it is.

Therefore, May I please have your Walkers? image

Great sets!! Looking forward to seeing the images.

That is just about the funniest thing I've read here! I'm almost tempted to send them to you. Great wit - okay so I'm half right.
