Newbie to forum, oldie (1943) to collecting

Hello everyone,
I finally figured out how to join this forum at the suggestion of a kind friend. I've been collecting coins since 1943 and still have the first three! My collection is oriented to U.S. coins although I have accumulated piles of foreign coins as well.

Welcome. Sounds like you started collecting when it was fun to look in your pocket for stuff.

Enjoy your stay here, don't take everything too seriously, some real good folks here, and some real jokers.

Welcome also. There is a lot of information to be had on these boards. I joined only 4 months ago, and learned a lot. What are your main interests in US Coins? I am into the half dollar series.

Hey Jan, good to see you over here from the "other" board we chat in.

  • Larry,

Thanks for the welcome! I feel welcome already!

I have your 1857 Flying Eagle clashed but I just can't let go!

    Do you have the Quarter?

  • Yes, pocket coins were cool! I really wish I knew then what I know now because I used to be in a big hurry to spend the "no good" coins--and there were a lot of them--because I was afraid they would not spend. Every once in a while, the "unlucky" recipient of clipped or off center coin we were trying to pass and give it back insisting on a "good coin". Indian heads were pleantiful, even Morgans. A good friend got a 1795 silver dollar but he want to charge me a $0.25 premium and I thought I was getting screwed and turned it down.
