Your opinion on this 26-s Buffalo

I am looking for opinions on this 26-s Buffalo nickel, It currently resides in an Au-58 ANACS holder.

Do you believe it would crossover into PCGS at a least an AU-55.
I know its a photo, just take a stab?

If you would like to view the coin, go to the Heritage signature auction and pull up the 26-s In Anacs 58, thanks to a board member who informed me that I was providing personnel info about my bids with the link I had.
thanks

Looks nice. It has a very decent strike for this date. AU58 looks fair.

Looks about as choice as one could expect for that date. I can't imagine it grading lower than au/55. I'd say the au/58 grade is right on.
That's a very nice example of that date. I wouldn't be surprised if that coin goes over $3k.

  • Sure looks high end AU in the photo. A premium dollar coin given the bold strike for the date. I think it likely a floor bidder will win unless an internet buyer makes an out-of-sight offer.

I think it's darn near impossible to tell the difference between a few points on even a good scan, but as long as you'd be happy with it being within 3 points of the NGC grade, then I think you'll do fine.

Btw, just curious as to why you want to cross it from NGC? I could understand if it were ACG or PCI, but is the difference between NGC and PCGS worth the risk in a possible downgrade? Or maybe it's for a registry set? Or maybe I ask too many questions. image
  • Pretty nice Buffalo, I'd say it has a good shot at making a PCGS AU58.

personally I really like it and that would be all that matters. heck with crossing it over. That's a fine coin with or without plastic!
