Ed Lee & Leecoins

Anyone do business with him?

Follow the link where he provides an interesting explanation on "sight seen" vs. "sight unseen" coins.

Unfortunately he goes on a rant about inflation and suggesting gold and rare coins are the antidote. Baloney! But I do like a few of his coins as a collectible item.

Go to the Heritage website and you will see Saint after Saint which has not moved in price in over 10 years. Funny how people who tout coins as an investment can never provide facts of how a coin portfolio will out pace inflation or even a CD!! Sure they will cherry pick maybe a rare coin as an example but how many MS65+ 1916-D with FB are there out there and who will be schrewd enough to slect the "right" coin?

Repeat after me, "Coins are not an investment. Coins are not...."

  • I would agree that he does provide some nice info in the beginning esp. for the new collector/investor. But he is in the business to sell coins, which explains the rest.

Now that Republicans pretty much rule the roost, perhaps they will finally pass legislation allowing rare coins as an investment option in IRA's. Then watch out as prices will skyrocket!! Not bullion, of course, but certified generic and rare date gold! I firmly believe this option will occur sometime soon, especially with the stock market being in a long bear market, and persistently low interest rates on money market and other liquidity funds. This is one good thing to say about the existence of established grading companies like PCGS. Without these companies certifying these coins, this scenario most likely would never happen. I hope for the best and soon!!
