Anyone want to split the 1948 Bowman set coming up?

Just for kicks I am thinking about buying the 1948 Bowman set in Brian Drents auction. I have about ten cards from the set in PSA 8's, and I thought that I might pick this up if it stays pretty low. Anyone making this set or want a card from the set? I don't know how to do a link to his auction, but you can find it at www.milehighcardco.com. There you can find what cards are available and the grades.

It's a nice set -- just not my cup of tea. I much prefer the 1955 Bowman set. Also -- I think that Drent's description of this set is thoroughly confusing. At any rate, here is a link for the interested parties:

Thank goodness he fixed that stupid e-mail problem he had going on last night. I had about fifteen e-mails from him in a row!

What did you think of the 55 Bowman Psa 9 Mickey Mantle?
aconte
I came in this morning and had about ten emails. I thought they were all outbid notices. Anyway, just a thought. I will contact you later when Superior comes up with the Wilson Weiners.

It is the third unique 1955 Bowman Mickey Mantle PSA 9 (of six total) to be offered in the last nine months -- quite a bounty year for this card! I think it is weak -- as were the other two examples offered. But, then again, one of the three PSA 10's has been (indiscretely) on the market for quite some time -- and with a $50,000 price tag to boot, that PSA 10 has a noticeable border chip that makes me think it is a nine.
It's certainly a nice card -- but the border imperfection on the card makes it one of the weaker nines -- not one of the stronger ones. I have not seen the other three PSA 9's of this card in a while -- but my recollection is that at least one of them is pretty strong.
For $hits and giggles -- if you remind me by e-mail, perhaps I can post scans of three or four of the high grade Mantles and explain the noticeable defects of each. (They are all very strong 8's at the very least mind you -- 1955 Bowman is just an exceptionally tough issue). For whatever reason -- the 1955 Bowman card typically has some border imperfections along the right side of the card (if you are looking at the card horizontally). In fact -- two of the PSA 9's offered this year have almost exactly the same imperfection. Interesting stuff to take note of anyway...
