E-Bay Seller - Carolina Coin

Last week, I posed the question if this was a reputable seller and received a very positive response from board members. I was considering buying an 1878 8tf Morgan.

Based on the feedback I received here, I sniped the coin I was seeking.

I sent a money order two days later and in four days I received my coin. In the meantime, I received positive feedback.

The coin arrived very carefully and professionally packaged, much better than I had ever received from ebay, inlcuding an inner corrigated protective wrapper.

The coin itself is striking - better than I had expected in person.

We're justifiably quick to broadcast bad ebay experiences to warn fellow board members of problems. Not a bad idea to give a tip of the hat to a really good seller who communicates well, acts fast, leaves feedback, takes care to make sure you get what you asked for in good order and has merchandise as good as advertised.

I would recommend anyone considering buying from this seller to do so without reservation.

  • For sometime they would just list coins w/ pictures. FINALLY they started putting captions on the coins such as cleaned, whizzed, etc etc, not always tho. That was my only real complaint against the company.

Nice Friendly folks when you call them also. Have no regrets with the coins they have shipped to me.

  • I looked at a number of coins that they identify as having been cleaned. Some not easily detectable which could be slid by an unknowing collector - this is a gesture which makes me more positive about their approach to coin sales.

  • That wasnt always the case

Good for you Frank. I like them too, and you're right, it's rare to see someone post about good transactions.

I'm glad you had a good experience with them. I bought some silver coins from them that were cleaned but not listed as having any problems. That was over a year ago, but I've never bought from them since.

  • I've been to their store in Columbia South Carolina. They are very knowledgeable, courteous, coin dealers. I would feel very comfortable purchasing a coin from them online or in their shop.

never been to their store, but have talked to kathy on the phone several times, sounds like a good old southern country belle. i think their coins are maxed out on price though. bought several coins, some were accurately described, a couple of others i returned, but have never had anything to complain about.

they had an incredibly huge number of positive feedbacks w/ zero neg's for a long time, until a couple of months ago when they picked up several neg's in a row.

Jimmy Sellers(carolina coin) is a straight shooter, He comes to a lot of local shows in the carolinas and does his buying. Although I have not seen him in quite a while. I have never had any problems in the past with selling to and /or buying from them. His pricing is a little on the higher retail side, but he likes to negotiate when he buys from dealers at the show, I would recommend doing the same with him on something he has that you want.

One thing I will note: In the past, Carolina coin likes to get coins certified, so if there is a raw piece for sale, it is usually because it wont holder.

  • Very nice post Frank...very thoughtful of you.
I think the reason we're not inclined to post complimentary messages like yours are (A) We EXPECT professional, prompt service from anyone who holds himself out as a pro and (B) The vast, vast, vast majority of my purchases arrive promptly, well packed and "As described"or better. If we were to post every good sale we'd get nothing else done. Nevertheless,it was really nice to read your complimentary post Twowood

Glad to hear your transaction with Carolina Coin went well. Also glad to hear, as a result of your thread, that many other Members have found their experience with Carolina Coin have been positive transactions. Always glad to know of another reputable source. Thank you.

Met them at the N Georgia show in the summer of 2001. Good people. Also have received a few accurately graded coins on the net. I'd reccomend.
  • I've had 50+ transactions with them, never a problem. Coins are always as described or better, and I never feel the need to question their pricing. Returns are handled promptly. My favorite eBay seller!
