You beat me to it! I'd about had it with seeing these useless pieces of junk scoring $50.00 bids from unwary buyers. While I agree (and advocate) novice collectors buy the book before the coin, there's a big difference between paying $20.00 for a well worn, common date Morgan and this crap. At least when you get burned with the Morgan you still have something of value.

    Just my two-cents (U.S.)

    Cheers,

    Bob
  • Hi Bob,

Have you seen the TV ads for these? They are even more outlandish than the ebay seller's statements. I think the same company is marketing the "1903 Proof and CC Proof Morgans" on TV. I'm sure there are a few Attorneys General that are going to be putting a stop to their misleading advertisements.

I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.

  • Wonderful! I put in a bid to recognize the auction!
  • I notice you are selling a couple of ICG Pr-69 Franklins, 1 cameo and 1 brilliant. A good number of Members on this Forum have been extremely critical of ICG's grading. Personally, I have found them to extremely strict with the Franklin, especially with their numerical grade.

I'm curious, how do you find ICG's grading?

Did you make these 2 Franklins?
  • Watch out ursabear...I may go in and snipe you with a $2.00 bid...image

Hey, ursabear- congratulations on being on the brink of your purple star! We're runnin' neck-and-neck, feedback-wise. Looks like you'll be the first over the finish line, though. image

  • Hello, In response to DCAMFranklin:

I recently crossed over this Peace Dollar LINK in a group with 5 others to PCGS MS63. They all were once in ICG MS61 Holders. I also crossed over two 1909 VDB Double Die Lincoln's BREEN #2053 ICG MS65 RB to PCGS MS66 RED. I sold one on Ebay for $550 and the other one at Bowers & Merena Galleries for $2,200. I think ICG may have a reputation for being liberal on PR70 DCAM's but they are too tough on early proof coins, Silver Dollars, and Gold. I have crossed many ICG coins over to PCGS higher.....especially early silver. I have also cracked out a few dozen PCGS coins and resubmitted to PCGS with lower resulting grades. I didn't have the latest group of proof Franklin's made but this is my opinion on the big four grading services. (PCGS,NGC,ICG,ANACS) If I can buy a rare grade Franklin for $200-$500 in an ICG holder....I won't pay $1,000 -$2,000 more for the same coin in a PCGS holder. For Example: I would buy a 1959 Franklin ICG PR68 Cameo for $600 before I would pay $5,000+ for one in a PCGS holder. I usually buy the coin on a stand-alone basis, ignoring the slab. The difference between a PR67 Cam -vs- PR68 Cam is only a subjective opinion in either scenario.

  • Seems that those being critical of ICG have really missed the boat. One Member in particular has been overly critical of ICG and when he was "called" on it by another Member, he had to admit his experience was only with one series, the Kennedy. Kind of like crucifying General Motors for the Cutlass alone!

I've had some spectacular results with ICG Franklins. I've heard plenty of other stories about their SLQ's and Indian Head Cents. Personally, I always prefer to not show prejudice. Grade the coin for yourself. If you find it to be solid for the grade or undergraded, then buy that baby! If you feel the need to cross it to another holder, then have at it.
  • nice job!!!
