Did you notice is the the "God Strike" variety? I know from History class that some of the colonies were religious... but to let God strike the coins...

  • How can you lose? After all, it's a coin that actually says "mind your business" on it, so if anyone riducules you, then you can just tell them!
  • It's a N. 104-FF - the so called 'New Haven Restrike'. These were mid-19th century copies produced by Horation Rust and probably manufactured by the Scoville Button Manufactory. IMHO: it's fully priced at $625.

    abuell knows Fugios.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Learned something new today. I didn't even know there were Fugio restrikes image

no! not underpriced at all. that looks like a new-haven restrike, and not a very nice 1 at that. i would call it ms-60! such a coin should go for no more than $500 w/out juice!

if that were an original strike, then the price would be too steep

ps: just noticed it is attr'd as a n.h. restrike. definitely too high, you should be able to get 1 w/ some red luster for maybe $750!

New Haven "restrikes" were supposedly struck from dies discovered by a 14 year old boy in 1858 on the site of the Broome & Platt Store in New Haven, Conn. where the originals were made. Three pairs of dies were reportedly found and are still extant. Actually, the "restrikes" were made from copy dies c. 1860.
