I don't even think the 1935 proof set has proof coins in it.
  • I'll bet those coins smell like rotten eggs from all the sulfur. These are really good examples of horribly done AT.
  • What a terrible waste of coins. And on top of the toning atrocities the morgans are being graded MS-64.

So what do you think the oven setting was? 380 F for 20 min or 320 min for 35 min?

How about the "chemical" used? Ammonian or sulfur? Cigarette or match stick?

I think we should write up a "cook book" of sorts: "Julia Child's cookbook on coins and other various delicacies"

    Broasted Morgan
    Buffalo Brickette
    Mighty Mercury Delight
    Fried Franklins
    Toasty Trade Dollars
    Kennedy Jubilee
    Wild Walker al uh Mode
    Lucious Lincoln Buffet

    I'm hungry...

And this coin isn't quite a MS64 as he claims.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • jon,
Thanks once again for keeping us posted. I noticed some of the same type coins in his auction last week. Somebody needs to yank him by his gonads and thumpem real hard. If anybody knows his exact GPS coordinates I can call for fire with A HE round from our Field Artillery Battalion (JUST JOKING), but he needs to be hosed because he is going to tear some newbies out of the frame with these coins.

  • Well a big problem for me is there are no proof coins made in 1935. I sent the guy mail a few days back pointing out that fact but got no response.
  • I am absolutely appalled!

Thats horrible, how can someone claim MS-64 on that Morgan? And once again, as others have pointed to, that 1935 "proof set" makes me sick. The wear on the Quarter alone....

Well, anyway, thats just a disgusting dispay of greed and deliberate deception. I just hope no one new to the hobby gets suckered in by that guy. I wish there was something I could do to put a stop to that crap.

I don't know guys? There is something about this seller selling rainbow coins and oil paintings
that just doesn't set right with me. Before I checked to see what you could get for a penny, I was
thinking it might have been the paintbrush. LOL I see a lot of stuff real cheap then we could n-- the weenie out of this guy. Most of the coins are toned only on one side while the other sides are either untoned or look botched up. The 1889 looks like it really got torched.
The seller probably has given up on making any money with his paintings and is now venturing
into painting coins. He's most likely a lurker with these forums and with all the commotion we had
with the topics on artificial toning......why....we have created.....a MONSTER.

Life just doesn't cease to amaze me.

They didn't even do a good job with the AT. Looks like what AT doctors call circus colors. Must be one of the $10 AT job doctors.
