Interesting debate brought up by SC, Who is the MVP so far this year?

I know I may seem like a homer for my pick, but I mean come on, he is by far the best this year. He carries this team on his back, they would be nowhere without him, he has looked stellar this year, and he makes some of the most unbelievable plays you have ever seen. I would agree McNabb is #1 or #2 but the fact is that he really hasn't been that great. Yes they would be nowhere without him, but he just hasn't been too great this year. Here is my top 5:

Favre
Holmes
Bledsoe
McNabb
Faulk

  • faulk is on a losing team so that would hurt his chances although theres still alot of season left..i agree with the others you listed though
  • <<he is by far the best this year>>

Did you mean to say that "he is by favre the best this year" image
  • farve is a little crybaby, id go mcnabb or bledsoe so far. Mcnabb can throw, and run. 2 games where he ran over 100 yds. Id put them in this order

    Mcnabb #1 or #2
    Bledsoe #1 or #2
    Holmes #3 or #4
    Mccallister #3 or #4
    Farve #5
    Faulk about #7 or #8
  • SINCE MVP USUALLY COMES FROM PLAYOFF BOUND TEAMS HERE ARE MY TOP 5 (IN NO ORDER)

GRIESE- IN TOP 3 IN MOST QB STATS
FAVRE- NO STAR PLAYERS AROUND HIM EXCEPT GREEN
BLEDSOE-STILL ON PACE TO BREAK MARINOS YARDS RECORD

  • LOL, Favre a crybaby? That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Its one thing if you dont like him for some reason, but to call him a crybaby is just ridiculous. yea, he has started every game for 11 straight years, a big cry baby huh? Never once blames a loss on injuries or anything. Crybaby? LOL

  • oh and i havent ever seen farve play his azz off hard enough to puke after a game. how often do you see farve leave the pocket and get yards running the ball, umm never. Mcnabb doesnt just slide down either, he fights and takes a hit to get a couple extra yds and the 1st down. Not once do you see him go and cry off th field. farve has what 200 more yds passing and 2 passing touchdowns more, but mcnabb has 400 yds rushing more and 6 running touchdowns more than him. Mcnabb gets hit twice as many times a games as farve, and not once do you see him complain. oh and you dont see mcnabb laying down for the record breaking sack for strahan either.

wow, this post proves your ignorance towards the game of football. Because favre hasn't puked after a game, he's not a good QB? QB's aren't meant to run, they are meant to throw. Players like McNabb, Vick, Culpepper, they are gonna get popped hard some day and it's gonna end their careers. Favre is the perfect example of what a QB should be like...
  • did i say farve puked, no. he doesnt play hard enough to puke, farve is good, but not #1. Im not saying nabb is #1 but he is better and provided more for his team that farve does. olden qbs werent meant to run, nowadays many qbs do run. Mcnabb, Vick, Culpepper, Garcia(a little bit), Fielder(more rushing tds than vick or culpepper) and several others. This day in age its normal to have a running qb, and in many cases better than one that just stands there. How does that make me ignorant?? because its the truth and not what you wanted to hear?
  • SlipKnot515SlipKnot515 Posts: 1,354 ✭✭
what you are saying by the puke thing is that favre isn't good because he "doesn't play hard enough to puke." So if a QB throws for 400 yards and scores 4 TD's but doesn't puke after the game, he didn't play hard? You can't measure how hard a player plays by if they puked after the game or not. And face it, more QB's are passers than runners. Look what happened to Vick when he kept running...he got roughed up. Until QB's are bigger and better than RB's, which there are none out there now, they will keep getting the crap kicked out of them when they run the ball.
  • how many times has he thrown for 400 yds this season?? how many games with 4 tds??? and many qbs do run! how many good/ok qbs ran in the last 5 yrs?

    lets see
    mcnabb
    culpepper
    fielder
    young
    vick
    bledsoe(a little bit)
    aikman (a little bit)
    brunell (a little bit)
    flutie
    mcnair
    stewart
    garcia (a little bit)
    griese (a little bit)
    couch (a little bit)

    vs how many good/ok havent
    farve
    warner
    manning
    brady

so dont tell me the BETTER qbs are the passing qbs. its the biggest lie/joke ive ever heard.

and for getting the crap kicked out of them? mcnabb has run for over 300 yds in all 4 seasons, and over 400 3 of them. not once has he gotten "ruffed up". It looks like farve is the "ruffed up" one. How many years does a swore thumb last?? COME ON!!!

  • 1. Brett Favre
    2. Priest Holmes
    3. Ricky Williams
    4. Drew Bledsoe
    5. Marshall Faulk

Favre proves he can make a medioker team great.
Priest doesn't get enough credit because he's on the Chiefs.
Ricky Williams is the most powerful rusher in the game.
Drew is a great quarterback, I would have traded Tom Brady before Drew.
Marshall is a great running back and can catch which is a plus.

Favre gets the MVP, no questions asked.
    60+ sucessful trades on here.
  • Im going with Bledsoe

  • a mediocre team?? the packers have good d, great running back, great recievers, great o-line. a mediocre team??

a mediocre team would be the eagles. good d, good recievers, ok runningback. Mcnabb is #2 or #3 rusher on the team. He makes a mediocre team good for than farve does. Farve has great surroundings!

reason why those QB's run..is they have to...Vick...McNabb...they have had to learn to run cuz they simply CAN NOT thread the needle like Favre......disagree if you want to...but ya know its true
    image

Tha Finger ... Tha Stunner ... Tha Legend.
  • farve may be able to "thread the needle" more than them, but whats he do?? threads the needle for 200 more yds passing and 2 more touchdowns. Mcnabb doubles what farve does by running for 400 yds and 6 tds/
  • I would say Holmes if the Chiefs can get the season turned around and he continues to have a big 2nd half, if not Farve right now.. But you dont get the MVP for the beginning of the season its the whole season..
  • Bledsoe, Holmes or Faulk.
  • Favre runs all the time. He is one of the best at avoiding a rush. What makes him a smart qb is that he does not run down the field. For one, he can just throw on the run and complete a pass instead of running. And two, you will EVENTUALLY get nailed one too many times and have to stop playing the game (ie: Young and Aikman). QBs running down the field, while looking couragous at the time, is going to eventually turn out to be a stupid move. Favre can make plays happen and he doesnt have to run down the field to do it, thats what makes him so great (and he takes a great number of hits too). And you cant measure everything by yardage stats either. Yea Bledsoe has 400 yard passing games, but he throws a million passes a game. I mean you still have to be good, but when you throw that much you are going to get a bunch of yards. Again, I never said McNabb is bad, but he is not as good as Favre. No QB is. Favre or Holmes are the best players in the league right now followed by Faulk and Bledsoe and McNabb. But anyways, lets get this back to a who is and who is not an MVP candidate so far this year, not a bashing whoever thread. I mean only one guy here is bashing a player, but lets get away from that and continue a who is and who isnt MVP.

Oh BTW: He was crying cause he actually loves the game and plays it with passion and he had no idea if his season was over or not, and to think a guy cares that much about his job shows what kind of guy he is. (you notice how he wasn't crying on the field or the sidelines, he was actually begging to go back in and the doctors just told him no it could be a tear and we will not allow you to)

  • farve has ran for 25 yards TOTAL this season. Whats it matter if a qb gets hit 1 to many times. As long as its not this season, they are still the better qbs. Young and Aikman lasted a LONG time! Running qbs make plays happen when throwing as well, and they too can throw on the run. And yet they have an added plus on their side, which is running. and how am i bashing a player?? you guys think farves sh*t dont stink. You think he's the best ever, and the best thing since electricity. MY GOD!!! Mcnabb has comparible stats(2 tds less and 200 yds less) staying inthe pocket and throwing on the run. ANd he has an added plus that farve doesnt. So running for 400 yds and 6 tds isnt better than passing for 200 yds and 2 tds. bledsoe has only passed 100 more times this season than farve (which is a lot i admit)

lol, and oh, on everything ive read and heard, he didnt "beg" to go back out and play.
  • Young and Aikman lasted a long time? What did Aikman last? 11 years? Young as a starter, like 8-9 years in SF? Thats not that long
