My apologies for interrupting things with a coin-related post. I'm taking a serious look at this coin for my short set, and would be interested in your opinions on it.

Are you really thinking of buying it, Russ?

very nice i would buy it.

Nice looking Walker. I do not see many marks on it. I am guessing maybe MS64/65? Grap it if it's a good price. And let us know what the grade is once you buy it.
Amazingly enough, that pup is an MS64, the grade I'm building the set in. But, it's priced quite a bit above current market at $233.

Remember the toned walker I posted the other day, well I sure didn't get a bargain on it. It was a 66 and I paid strong for it but I knew it was worth it to me to have a nice eye appealing one.
BNE- With only 4 coins placed in the PCGS MS-67 holder, the '41-S is a true rarity in that grade.
I guess it is a function of how bad you need the coin today.
That being said, I don't think you can do any better in a "64," Russ. Me likes.

there are some scattered tics on the coin but it looks like a good strike. actually, the blue-green tint my screen shows probably covers up some marks. i've looked at so many raw walkers trying to find a nice coin or two that my head hurts!! they always seem to have that smashed finger and stems look or too much leg and eagle rub. maybe that means all the nice ones are holdered already. that bugger has luster to spare , though. hard to figure how that design went out of fashion!!
holy smokes, gotta go. this coin talk is so pointless.

<< <i>And the luster gives it exceptional eye appeal. >>
BNE,
This is my primary goal in building this set; luster. At MS64, there are compromises that must be made; an extra tick here and there; a bit of weakness in the strike; or dipped to death dullness. I could have built this set in a week or two with no-luster coins. There are a zillion MS64's like that out there. I decided that every coin in the set would look like the one above, no matter how long it took.
The last one I got in:
I have 15 of the 20 coins so far, and all but two (that will be replaced) have this much luster.

In response to your original question, what I think is that - I WANT IT!
Joe
That's a cool Walker. It has really great luster and sweet color.
I really like your photography as well. The quality of your images gives me something to strive for.
This is a 41-S that appears very close to a 65, depending on how obvious the luster graze at 3 o clock is. The hand looks to be barely split and leg a touch weak but far beyond most 64's and many 65's in strike.
One of my two sets of walkers was just like yours which was a set done back in the 70's. I sold it back in '82 through B&M auctions. It broke my heart while padding my bank account immensly. Take your time in completing this set. There is much joy in the process.
Consider buying this 41-S even if you ultimately buy a 2nd one. It will always be good for trade for what you want in other dates at the very least.
I have a 41S NGC 64 that is a lot weeker strike on the obverse, but has beautiful toning, this coin is a strong 64 compared to the strike on mine. Nice coin. PS give me some advice on buying a scanner that wont break me, im on a soldiers budget so that I can start scannin some my toners to share and get opinions on.
THanks
