...thing that you’ve ever seen a seller do to sell coins? I remember a seller on Amazon.com who was selling Indian cents. The coins were “...guaranteed to be almost a hundred years old and in good condition!...” I think he was asking $75 for ten of them - all common dates. Obviously this was aimed at those who are not at all familiar with coins or grading. Can you think of any really comical sales pitches?

Sure made me want to buy the coins.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
OK, those can't be the WORST. But some of the steamer-trunk-and-barrellful Wheat penny sellers crack me up. As if little ol' Granny could have hefted a trunk full of Wheat pennies up to the attic. Yeaaah. Suuuuuure that trunk's full of coins. Suuuuure.
I guess a lot of people's Grannies and Grandpas had forklifts out there in the barn, or the garage, behind the rusted-out '63 Galaxie...
PS- oh, yeah- let's not forget this 35-cent British penny, currently on eBay, with a starting bid of only $1,127.00 ...
Just when you think you've seen the most absurd, something else crops up. With eBay and Yahoo, one could keep this thread going eternally, and post dozens or probably hundreds of absurdities every day. It'd be a full time job for a staff of ten to twelve people, I'd imagine.
