Carson Die Trial- what exactly is it?

Why would this be on one strip of metal? I don't get what this is exactly... any insight?

    IMO its bogus. I might be willing to pay that price for the actual cancelled dies, but all someone did was make a stamp from these cancelled dies.

    If you go to the gift shop at the Nevada State Museum (the former mint building) in Carson City, you can buy silver bars stamped with cancelled dies excavated from a former dump site. They're much less expensive than the one on eBay, too.
